RE: Meat but not animal: Veggie steak

It looks like the technology for lab grown meats will eventually be upon us (my opinion). This will be another one of those major disruptive social events.

The ethics of eating meat for vegans will then be removed I suppose. My guess is that many vegans etc will quietly start eating lab grown meat without letting others know about it (it will still be a stigma in those circles).

Eventually more and more vegans will be eating lab grown meat that the only ones still vegan will be doing so for health reasons.

Also in, local UK news, Pigs are going to suffer because I cant kill them quick enough: BBC. Not really sure what to do with that information but there it is, that's a thing that's happening. Weird world.

Yes you might be right with that take. My hope is that vegans will welcome this change, from what I can tell the animal rights movement has grown up a lot in the last decade or so. Most people still have PETA in mind but the movement as a whole either rejects them entirely, or are trying to make them change their approach (because its pissing people off), and instead go for more pragmatic attempts to reduce suffering.

The latest goal is 50by40: reduce the production of animal products internationally by 50% by the year 2040. A solid target in my opinion.
