Skyflower Threads @ Sneinton Vegan Market (authored by @indira-skyflower)

in #vegan8 years ago

This Saturday I crammed Skyflower Threads into a suitcase and set off for Sneinton Vegan Market, Nottingham, to run my stall.

The market has been running ever since last October and takes place on the first Saturday of each month. It’s a mix of different independent small vegan businesses, including food, sweet treats, cosmetics, crafts, clothing and more. And the best thing; it’s all completely free from animal products.

I was approached by one of the organisers of Sneinton Vegan Market while I was running my stall at Leicester Vegan Market, and naturally jumped at the opportunity. I love the vibe at vegan markets/events; it’s an opportunity for ethical, cruelty free businesses to thrive. And you end up meeting some wonderful people. Creative, driven, hard working people who are trying to make ripples of positive change in this capitalist society we live in. Such an inspiration.

We were blessed with sunshine all day, and I was pitched next to a ‘Willow and Dove’ a lady who runs a business selling handmade vegan sweet treats, and another lady selling gorgeous tea.

So here’s my set up. I had painted a new banner. Could have gone to a professional printer but why spend more money when you can do it D.I.Y? And hand dyeing fabric with rainbow colours in the sunshine was far too much fun to miss out on.

I make and sell a variety of clothing, home wear and do tarot readings on the stall. The day was a little slow business wise. With it being an amazingly hot day, people surely find nicer things to do than walk around markets! But I made some sales, met some beautiful people and soaked up the sun.

One of the highlights was definitely receiving this free, absolutely tiny cup of green tea from the stall holder next to me. Tea and sunshine; that’s all you need in life, right?

At what point do we get worried about vegetables evolving and fighting back from getting eaten too much?

The moment they become sentient individuals, in other words, animals and thus aren't plants.

Nice work you got there @nanzo-scoop, helping other people. Can you feature my post too.
