At VeeamOn 2019, Veeam news: disaster recovery for all and solutions for the hybrid cloud

in #veeamon5 years ago

At the 2019 VeeamON Conference, Veeam presented both its products and the company with the latest news. Many innovations, starting with the result of last year's billion dollar turnover, passing through substantial product improvements.

Veeam achieves a billion dollar turnover Veeam points out that only 34 companies in the world today have been able to achieve the coveted goal of a billion dollar turnover by selling software exclusively. Thanks to the 350,000 customers reached in the world with an increase of over 4,000 new customers per month, the company is now part of this group.

By focusing on virtual machine backups, this remarkable result was achieved. Technological and market developments are strongly pushing towards the cloud, however, and Veeam is prepared for this challenge with a series of tools designed to operate in a world where the cloud is of paramount importance. By reading our piece dedicated to who Veeam is and what it does, you can get an idea of the services the company currently offers.

Due to its evolution over the past ten years and its focus on virtual machines, Veeam states-given the data in hand-to be the leader in the modern data center. The company's first decade (2008-2018) is called "first act;" this year's "second act" starts and Veeam focuses on responding to the hybrid cloud's new challenges.

It was pointed out during the conference that Veeam is and wants to remain a software development company: the company is not dealing with or dealing with hardware and will act in this market simply through partnerships with companies already operating in the sector. There are products certified for use with Veeam products within these collaborations or which already integrate them internally. In this way, Veeam succeeds in remaining neutral towards its partners, thus not becoming competitors.

We met with Albert Zammar, Southern EMEA Vice President, on the occasion of VeeamON, who highlighted Veeam's focus on small and medium-sized enterprises that still generate 40% of the global turnover of the company. This focus on SMB enables Veeam to achieve significant results in all Mediterranean countries, where the industrial fabric mainly consists of small and medium-sized enterprises. The numbers for Italy in particular are very significant: of the world's 350,000 customers, as many as 20,000 are in the Bel Paese, and this figure suggests some liveliness in the world of Italian IT.

"With Veeam": hardware and software for greater reliability "Our strategy has always been to be open and neutral, working with a broad partner ecosystem to better meet our customers ' needs." These are the considerations of Veeam's sales & marketing by Ratmir Timashev, co-founderand EVP. These few words sum up the strategy of Veeam, which opens up the possibility of integrating Veeam software into their products for their partners.

The company makes it possible to create storage products specifically designed to work with Veeam software and the environment in which they are installed through the program with Veeam. Using custom-made hardware, manufacturers can provide equipment that best suits speed and evolution needs for customers.

From the point of view of the customer, integration offers an interesting simplification of the offer enabling the purchase of a single product that already integrates the software, as well as greater price clarity and a single reference in terms of assistance.

The Veeam products will be available both traditionally and can therefore be purchased directly from the customer or as a service format.

We find Mine, which was created in collaboration with Nutanix and designed to integrate with Veeam Cloud Data Management, among the first announced partnerships. Nutanix Mine with Veeam integrates with Veeam Backup & Replication the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform, making it easier to manage data even in a varied cloud environment and where silos can be more complicated to manage.

Veeam Availability Orchestrator v2: disaster recovery for all Veeam has announced that Veeam Availability Orchestrator v2 is available, the second version of the centralized software for infrastructure management. The new software provides access to advanced capacity for disaster recovery that allows companies of all sizes to access features previously reserved for business software.

The real and most significant change is that you can start complete disaster recovery operations from backups, as well as images, through Availability Orchestrator v2. It is not a recent development, as it makes it possible to manage disaster management even in infrastructures where replication is not carried out, which implies a substantial increase in the costs and resources used. Additionally, Availability Orchestrator v2 provides the ability to automatically verify backup reliability and demonstrate compliance in many industries with the required service level agreements.

The software's new version also makes it possible to exploit backup data for various scenarios such as upgrade and patch testing, as well as data analysis itself or development models such as DevOps.

There is also an advanced permission system (role-based access control) that allows the precise definition of the permissions of individual roles within an organization to take full advantage of the capabilities of the software.

Veeam dramatically reduces the amount of manual work for system administrators with Availability Orchestrator v2, allowing them to focus better on their task and the company's actual needs rather than manually configuring the system.
