Chronicling The Coca Cola Kid, Vechain's Shill Whisperer

Let's talk for a moment about viral marketing.

Viral marketing induces people and companies to pass on advertising or a branding message to others through their own volition, casting a far greater net and convincing more consumers than any traditional style of marketing could ever hope to achieve. The message cannot be heavy-handed, the target user base has to be highly conducive to the message, and the environment to pull off the intended ripple effect has to be just right.

A meme currently floating around the crypto circles is that of "Tulipmania" - the story of the first ever speculative bubble. You've probably heard the gist of it by now, in 1559 a botanist by the name of Conrad Gessner began to romanticize the beauty of the tulip bulb to a Dutch population who had rarely, if ever, seen the flower in real life. Fast-forward a decade or two to the mid-1630's - the entire nation has gone stir crazy over the flower, shooting prices as high as several million dollars, adjusted for today's current USD value.

Conrad Gessner's message was not heavy-handed; the flower is pretty, and their is elegance in its simplicity. The target user base was highly conducive; the Dutch were undergoing a golden age of luxury and wealth, and were hungry for new experiences and treasures. Finally, the environment was just right; the scarcity of the flower throughout the country brought incredible value to the mundane plant. Every aspect of the first viral-marketing campaign had to be just right -- which's makes Vechain's own viral marketing campaign seem calculated and brilliant.

There is a twitter count flouting out in the wild that goes by the name "The Coca Cola Kid". Shrouded behind the iconic red branding of the famous soda company, this twitter profile spouts cryptic and ominous messages that, on their own, don't make much sense.

Its the perfect amount of mystery and guidance. From its inception, the Twitter profile had been posting messages like the one above, and many other intriguing examples. A trail of breadcrumbs began to emerge which pointed towards Vechain (VEN), the Singapore-based blockchain foundation. People began to notice that Coca Cola Kid would post a cryptic message in the hours preceding a major announcement from Vechain. Never outright declaring it, but allowing enough evidence that the internet could decipher through to the truth.

The above cigarette emoji tweet came hours before Vechain announced its partnership with China Tobacco. The VEN community was alight that night/morning with buzz surrounding Vechain, much of it coming from the mystery surrounding Coca Cola Kid. We even reported on the rumor started by CCK, which after a while saw the coin's value rise nearly 20% over the 24 hour period.

"Who is Coca Cola Kid?"

"What has the profile gotten right?"

"Why should I be listening?"

These are examples of the kind of questions being asked on Reddit, Steemit, /biz/ about the Coca Cola Kid profile. When you see questions like the one above, you start to realize that the viral marketing campaign is already a success. A precision cut straight to the bone of the Vechain community, injecting its own brand and message straight into the skeletal base.

So who, exactly, is "The Coca Cola Kid"? That is not the right question to be asking. The mundane, probably correct answer is that its just a person with a clever head on their shoulders over at Vechain. The better, also correct answer is that The Coca Cola Kid represents a perfect example of steering a branded or targeted message through the static confusion of the internet. Taking the constant flow of information, which is always grabbing and pulling the psyche in every direction imaginable, and being able to hold it in your hands, mold it out of your will, and releasing it like a caged bird back towards the blue skies. Watching your carefully curated message in its organic beauty being passed along from person to person. Everywhere it goes, piquing interest and curiosity.

The technical answer to why you should be listening, is because the Coca Cola Kid has never been wrong on calling a future Vechain announcement. A few hours ago, the Twitter profile sent out this:

Check out four of the highlighted words that are capitalized towards the bottom: Pilgrims, Beacons, Others, Cysts. Now think of where Vechain conducts the majority of its business, and what that acronym might mean in their society. Possibly, could the encrypted message point towards the People's Bank of China?
