Vacation Bible School

Hello everyone!
First I want to apologize for not being active on here since last week. Second, I wanted to tell everyone about why I haven't been active. This week at our little small town church we invited the children of our community to join us in vacation bible school. Our theme this year was "Camp Shinning Light, Getting S'more of Jesus" We kicked off the week on Sunday, June 9 and ended the week with a campout on Friday, June 14th. We even spent the night and had breakfast on Saturday morning.

Throughout the week we learned all about how Jesus shinned His light to the world. Our theme verse was John 8:12.
"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

This week I feel like I took so much away from the session. Don't get me wrong it was exhausting going straight from church to vbs each night, but the take away I learned about shinning my light for Jesus was well worth it!

Let me just give you a glimpse...
Imagine a dark sanctuary full of children. Our director had us turn out all of the lights. She took a glow stick and held it up. She said "Jesus broke his body, so that we could let our lights shine for Him." Then she broke the glow stick to let it glow. She then passed out a glow stick to each of the class instructors. She had them break the glow stick. Each instructor went around the sanctuary and spoke each child's name. For example, "Celisa, Jesus broke His body so you could let your light shine for Him." Then each child would pass their glow stick to the child next to them, and the words were spoken again. After each child in the room had touched a glow stick, the instructors came to the front and placed the glow stick in a glass jar of water. With each glow stick that was added, the jar of water became brighter and brighter. The jar made a lantern that illuminated the room. After the last glow stick was added, our director said, "Jesus broke His body for each one of us. Look at the impact we can make in the world together when we all let our lights shine for Him. Think of the impact we can make on the world. We can light up the world, just like we lit up this room." I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. WHAT AN IMPACT!
