Malaysia's Hidden Gem

in #vacation6 years ago (edited)

There comes a point to most Malaysians where we find it hard to decide on our next getaway, a short staycation to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. More often than not, the usual suspects are states like Melaka, Penang or when one have a need for a colder climate than the daily temperate climate, Genting Highlands would be the first pick.

However, given those places are widely known locations they are usually "infested" with countless people which dulls the true experience of the vacation.

With that in mind that's how we came to the consensus of spending the weekend at Fraser Hills as we needed a place to cool off from the heat of the lowlands. The trip there was pretty smooth sailing till we reached the infamous and dreaded windy roads. Thankfully, it was bearable enough that none of us felt nauseated on the way up. It was evident when we were reaching the top as the temperature began to drop and we rejoice at the cool breeze running through our fingers with the car window down.

Our first lunch destination was the Ye Olde Smokehouse where we had our first knack at the sumptuous Beef made famous by Chef Gordon Ramsay. Not only that the food was amazing, the ambience was very British-like and artsy too. So obviously we took a plethora of photos with the nice deco and the perfect sunlight. It was a beautiful bright sunny day at Fraser Hill.

While there were other places we visited throughout the journey the next restaurant (yes, food again. Why? Because we love food) we would like to highlight is Aida Daniya Restaurant & English Teahouse where we were treated to some awesome rack of lamb, scones and of course English Tea. Its typical for one to have a hot beverage in the cold weather and trust me, we had our fair share and some.

The scenery around here while not plentiful are something to behold with isolated areas having beautiful flowers that we enjoyed during our morning walks and a Glasshouse place very close to the clocktower where we found some very rare cacti that aren't for sale but at least free to stare at.

All in all, it was a very relaxing, slow-paced, recharging stay that i would highly recommend anyone who just wants to chill.

Long may our adventures continue..
