Vacation for a few days?

in #vacation6 years ago

I am looking to surprise my wife with a little trip into some warm weather.

My challenge is I am not sure where to go.

The thing is my wife does work very much and can't just take two weeks or even one week off. As a result I need to find something that is easy to reach from Philadelphia.

So I was wondering if some of you have any ideas for nice locations and specifically nice hotels that would my wife to relax and get some new experiences.

I am ok with spending something around 5k, but would be ok with spending even twice that if the location is amazing.

if you are interested in water parks too, Atlantis at Bahamas would be a nice option. Link: https://www.atlantisbahamas.com/?ITT=Logo_TopNav

Or, Tulum is another great place to take a rest - imo, it's certainly better than cancun. Example hotel: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g150813-d1220513-Reviews-El_Pez_Colibri_Boutique_Hotel-Tulum_Yucatan_Peninsula.html

I would try to find something on the Bahamas. With a direct flight the Bahamas are only 3 hours away. And with your budget you can pick a very nice hotel. Or you could save half of your budget and go twice 😎

that looks great, have a link?

I'm not totally sure if linking to hotels.com works. But otherwise you can easily find it by going to that website and search for the hotel name (which you can see in my picture).

https://www.hotels.com/ho476982/?q-check-out=2018-11-09&FPQ=4&q-check-in=2018-11-08&WOE=5&WOD=4&q-room-0-children=0&pa=23&tab=description&JHR=3&q-room-0-adults=2&YGF=14&MGT=1&ZSX=0&SYE=1#:WO

What I most of the time do is search as follows. Once you know when you can go you first find a ticket to one of the Bahama islands. Those are most close to Philadelphia. Once you found a ticket, preferably without extra stops and not to expensive, you search for a hotel. I think hotels.com and booking.com are nice. But there are more websites of course. If you found a hotel, then you have 2 options that you can first check. See if I is possible to book directly via their own website. Sometimes this is a bit cheaper. If that doesn't work you can check if there is a hotel website with some kind of collecting program. For example if you book 10 nights within 1 year via hotels.com then you get 1 night for free.

If using hotels.com, hopefully you have a CapitalOne Venture card. If so you can go to https://hotels.com/venture for 10% cash back plus hotels.com usual 11th night free.

I suggest Long Beach Island to which it is commonly referred, is an 18-mile-long barrier island that's accessible by a causeway, located off the coast about mid-way down Jersey Shore, a short drive north of Atlantic City. . The southern end of the island is more lively and populated and is often the choice for families with children. There are also beaches on the bay side of the island, which offer calmer, shallower water for swimming. You and your family member won't find any glitzy amusements, with the exception of the Fantasy Island Amusement Park -- a tiny park in Beach Haven, which has small rides and a handful of games for the kids.. I think, It is near from your location

It is the best place for your spending your vacation time @knircky

You can see some review and tourism guide from : https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g46292-d11444615-r516319442-Long_Beach_Island_Historical_Museum-Beach_Haven_Long_Beach_Island_New_Jersey.html

I like Long Beach Island (besides for the life guard creeps that prevent free swimming from 9-5 PM). However, I am guessing @knircky would like a more exotic destination.

Given the tight timeline, I am thinking you & wife will want a direct flight. This webpage came up. I think any of the options in the Caribbean would be a good choice. Also perhaps Bermuda.

What about Hawaii? It's not a long flight. We stayed at the Ilikai where we could cook our own meals but there are amazing resorts if thats more your style. It's such a relaxing place and there's no culture shock if you don't have much time to adjust. But, Grand Caymen is also a wonderful peaceful safe and quaint location. Whatever you decide, enjoy your precious time together away from your regular routine!

I don't know where should I suggest. I has seen 6 suggestions from comments.

  • Gran Canaria island
  • Atlantis at Bahamas
  • Long Beach Island
  • Hwaii
  • Miami
  • Cape Verde

I think you would like to travel to Bahamas. I wish you get a good trip.

Look up a good travel agency in your area, they always have a few secret, special ones, in their back pocket! A good bed and bath on a vineyard would be relaxing!

Good luck, and have a nice vacation!

:)

We have already been there, but nice. Most German SPA will be a better experience.

I have two recommendations: One is Miami. There is no need to explain it much. But the other one is Venezuela. This country is in economic crisis now. So if you go there with just 1 k $, you will stay in the best hotel and live like king and queen. But this country is not so safe. You would better go to your hotel from the airport, stay there for two weeks, and return to the airport and leave the country.

Venezuela would certainly be an experience. According to the U.S. Department of State:

Reconsider travel to Venezuela due to crime, civil unrest, poor health infrastructure, and arbitrary arrest and detention of U.S. citizens. Some areas have increased risk.

It continues:

Violent crime, such as homicide, armed robbery, kidnapping, and carjacking, is common.

Political rallies and demonstrations occur, often with little notice. Demonstrations typically elicit a strong police and security force response that includes the use of tear gas, pepper spray, water cannons, and rubber bullets against participants and occasionally devolve into looting and vandalism.

There are shortages of food, electricity, water, medicine, and medical supplies throughout much of Venezuela. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a Level 3 ‘Avoid Nonessential Travel’ notice on May 15, 2018 due to inadequate healthcare and the breakdown of the medical infrastructure in Venezuela.

Would be a great place to go to spread awareness of cryptocurrencies and see what life is like during crisis!

Congratulation sir, is a good idea i really like this post thanks for sharing this post
