Utopian.io :: Contributer Assign
Reasoning
As PO have the right to edit there requests when they please (and they should be able to) we as contributors have a hard time keeping up with the changes they make. In the past I had PO close tasks because they found what they needed. Therefore I was still creating even though it was no longer needed. This issue makes it so the contributor can no longer earn a upvote and did not know to stop and redirect his or here efforts towards a project that needed it.

Use Case
Use Case 1 : Button
A button in every request that you can click as a contributor to let the project owner know you are working on something for. When the button is clicked give the user options to notify him when there is a change in the original request.
If the contributor decides to no longer participate he should get a button to unassign if he desires.
Use Case 2 : Assign
Assign the contributor to the project in a list. This list can be viewed by the requester and moderators to keep track of all the people who are participating. This can be handy to maybe extend a period when a certain amount of people has not contributed at the end of the deadline.
Use Case 3: Notification
When the requester wants he can send notifications to the contributor. With extra info, a deadline change, general info. Also when the topic gets changed the requester can choose to notify the contributors.
Mockups / Examples
As I don’t know how the background of the utopian system looks I am unable to provide mockups or examples of how those might look.
Benefits
The benefits are limitless. Communication wise this is invaluable. It can help requesters when they forgot to add something important. It can help contributors to pick up on changes a lot faster. Where in the past people often lost a lot of time they now get a notification and therefore did not loose any time, making them available for other projects way faster.
And it would give Utopian a chance to send the rules of the specific request instantly to the contributor. And removing the need for moderators to explain the same rules every time. Saving a lot of time when moderating.
