Apache Cordova or what was called previously Apache Callback or PhoneGap. More specifically, It is a framework which is classified as an open source project. It allows users to create several applications for different platforms (As for Android and IOS....).

Applications developed thanks to this tool are hybrid, that is mean that they are not really native, neither based on HTML language or such an equivalent one.

This is my fourth contribution to the project Cordova.
Overall, dealing with the newest version becomes more fluent hence less difficulty whilst working on the contribution. However, some of the packages needing translation contain actual Linux commands and according to the beta version some are indeed translatable but that seemed awkward considering the fact that they should be universal and language- restrictions free which creates a bit of a confusion of whether keep the original version or actually, translate them.

This contribution’s difficulty resides in the use of technical terms. Choosing the right fit in the correct context imposed by the project’s specifications needed some actual research and improvisation. Some examples are as follows :

SSL:

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a standard security protocol for establishing encrypted
links between a web server and a browser in online communication. Hence keeping the acronym as it is since the translation of the term would be misleading.

Gingerbread:

Android "Gingerbread" is the 7th system of Android and a codename of the Android mobile operating system developed by Google. “Pain d’épices” is the actual french version of the literal term, but since it’s an android version than the name is universal and thus keeping the original name. Plus for clarification purposes, we add “version” to the term in its french format to avoid all confusion.
