The Curious Expedition Greek Translation - Part 51 (~ 1114 words)

in #utopian-io6 years ago

Current Session

Saturday today and I am back with yet another translation for The Curious Expedition! As you can see from the title, this is my No. 51 contribution for the game and it brings me to having 63 % of the project completed:

As for the current session, like I have said 51 times counting this post, this was again a super easy translation. Just have a look at some of the strings I worked on during this session:

Shoot it down with marked bullet

Local life is superior

Active Geysir

Dark Lord

As you can see, there is really nothing special or difficult to mention. Easy strings that even a small child with basic knowledge of English can handle.

And like with many of my previous translations, I again inserted a few original strings of my own here and there (always making sure they fit with the context provided) as the devs have given us the liberty to do so!

Now, let me conclude with a small taste of the music I enjoyed while preparing this contribution:

That's all folks!

Project Details

The Curious Expedition is a rogue-like expedition simulation set in the 19th century. It's the first game by indie developer Maschinen-Mensch. The game is available on Steam, GOG, Humble Store and at the official homepage http://curious-expedition.com. The game has been regularly updated through out the last 2 years. A list of all the updates can be found here. For information on modding the game, go here . [source and more info]

Gameplay

And here's what I believe to be the official trailer:

Why Did I Choose This Project?

Well, to be honest, I chose this project because all the other options were applications with boring names like Freecad and Jabref. I thought it would be fun (edit: less boring) to translate a game instead. And thank god... I was right!

I am sure my team members are very jealous that I get to translate strings like "Let's eat", "Giant tortoise", "I feel happy and sad", and "Oh my god" while they get to translate stuff like "resolving duplicate keys", "Port Design", "Constraining modifier key" and "Corrugated elements"... LOL!

Too bad for them, now they have to live with the choices they have made....MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Contribution Specifications

  • Translation Overview: This is a really large project, approximately 80.000 words and obviously it's gonna take me a while to finish. In each part I plan to translate anywhere from 700 to 1200 words. For the most part, the translation is very easy as there are few, if any, technical terms.
  • Languages: The project is being translated from English to Greek.
  • Word Count: According to Crowdin, for Part 51# I translated 1114 words, for a total of 52547 translated words. Since most of the strings translated were part of the in-game dialogues, there were only a handful (1, maybe 2%) that were left in the original language, e.g. screenshot.

Thank you for contributing to the Davinci-Utopian translation project @trumpman!
This was the 51st part for the “Curious Expedition” project and your 54th contribution to the translation category in total.

TCE is by 63% completed thanks to your good and hard work, @trumpman! Your 54th contribution was very good, I checked it a while ago and I only spotted 2 missing stretches. Thanks for also taking into consideration a few different words I suggested in 2 strings; I liked your translations, but I just couldn’t help but pointing out a different way of saying the same thing.

You have made a very nice, informative and fun presentation post too. I like this style of yours!

All in all, you gave us another very good contribution! Keep up the good work!
