Having a Mutual Relationship with Steemit; The Best Means to Success on the Platform

in #utopian-io6 years ago (edited)

It's been about 16 months since I joined steemit, and I have come to learn a lot in this period of time. It'd be just to say that I started my blockchain journey on the Steem blockchain. Thinking about when I just joined steemit and where I am today, it's all been a journey of hard work and dedication, although with few slacks in between. If only I could go back in time and start all over again, I won't make mistakes and would probably be on a much bigger reputation now.
So on this blog post, I want to share from experience the best means of being successful on the steemit platform and the benefits you get afterwards.

Steemit

Steemit is a blogging platform on the steem blockchain that rewards users for their positive contributions on the platform.

Let's say you go to the internet and search for steemit, things like "Get paid for writing good contents" would come up. That was actually my biggest scam phrase. Steemit is far more than that, you don't just get paid for writing, it's more like "get paid for writing what people want to read". With the way the steem blockchain works, there is no definite or stipulated upvote you get for every post you make. It's left for the community to reward you, those who love your content, they are the ones whom reward you. On steemit, you do not even get paid for wring good contents, it only raises your probability of getting paid.

Steemit As A Mutual Community of Bloggers.

If you've ever had a blog, you would know that you get the most traffic when you write about things that your audience love, things that they want to read about. That's exactly how Steemit should be seen. As a newbie, I struggled to understand the system, it was something my friend and I had just come across online. So we had no coach and we wrote just because we wanted to write an earn. That's a wrong attitude which most newbies come into the platform with.

Let's look at it this way now. "Steemit, a social platform where you get paid for creating and adding value to the platform". Now that's a mutual scenario, the steemit community gains from you, and you gain from them. Like I said, the steem blockchain is not all about writing good content, it's about creating value, something that other steemians would appreciate. That's why, sometimes you'd see a post that's not up to 100 words getting a 100$ upvote. It's quite funny that I made up to 13 posts before I got up to 1$ on a post, look where I am now, you just have to stay consistent.

Posting Good Contents on Steemit in The Right Way

Good content here is subjective. What may be good for me might not be good to someone else. So in order for you to meet your target audience, steemit created tags. Most newbies do not make proper use of this field in the posting page. Your tags determine to a large extent the level of upvote you'd get. Let me use this blog post as an example. I am writing it as a contribution to the utopian-io platform. To get an upvote from utopian bot, I have to use the utopian-io as my first tag and blog as my second and steemit as my third. If I don't do like this, there would be a low probability of getting an upvote on this post even though it is good content. So now, I just added value to the utopian platform and would probably get rewarded by them if they love my content. So this is basically how I see the steem blockchain, you get rewarded when people love your content and to reach the right people for your content, you use the right tags.

The Steemit Interface

Steemit has a user-friendly interface and is quite easy to understand and use. It's advisable to read the Welcome page when you login to steemit to understand steemit terms better as I wouldn't want to go into that now.

Earning On Steemit

Earning on steemit can be as easy as it sounds when you follow due protocols. I love to see steemit as an almost perfect ecosystem due to its reward system. The power to earn is in the hands of everyone one, so you basically earn when steemians upvote your post. The dollar value of the upvote is determined by the steempower of the curator. After seven days you get 75% payout value and 25% goes to the curators. This 25% is a boost for everyone to always make use of their voting power, thereby growing the reward pool.
Most Steemians with low sp(steempower) always fail to use their voting power, with the excuse that it's too small and would add nothing. What they do not understand here is Steemit is like an ecosystem, let's say 20k people with upvote value of 0.01$ make a vote every day, that 200$ being added to the reward pool everyday, check that in 365 days, that's $73,000. And this recycles, the greater the reward pool gets, the greater the vote value. The only loophole to this concept is the power down, which would still reduce the vote value even if there is an increase in the reward pool. So your 0.01$ upvote is very important in growing the steemit reward pool. So basically vote more so you can earn more.

Benefits of Steemit

The Steemit platform comes with a lot of benefits the same as the hard work. Throughout my time here, I have taken the time to analyze how best to adapt to the system and I have come to realize the numerous benefits you gain on and off the platform.

  • Helps Improves Your Personality :
The influence you get on the platform through the numerous inspirational posts being blogged every on steemit could have an impact on your personal life if you let it. I had to put this first, because, for me, I have been a great benefactor from this. I grew that sense of responsibility, responsibility to add value to the lives of others.

  • Improves Your Financial Status :
Most people who sign-up to steemit are more interested in this aspect. Since I joined steemit, I can that I have maintained a level of financial sustainability and stronghold. Although right now the crypto market might not be in the best state which also has an impact on upvote and payout value, the pasture was once green and the drought would soon be over.

More Amazing Stuffs About Steemit

Steemit is more than just a blog and gets paid site, It operates on the steem blockchain and thus contains it's own wallet. So you can save your steem on your steemit account. It also has its own integrated market that trades them and sbd. To help newbies in converting their steem to major cryptocurrencies, you have the sell option in the drop-down in your steemit wallet which connects you to unregistered blocktrades page where you can trade to other major cryptocurrencies without needing to login to blocktrades.

Little Tip
joining a community on steemit is one of the major ways to succeed on the platform. When you are with a community with right minds, you motivate each other to grow through competition and group guidance.
This would be my major point of concentration on my next blog post about steemit, which would talk about how it is best to thrive in a community than solely.

Summary

As a beginner on steemit, always note that you are not entitled to get an upvote on any post you make, so take off that mentality of get paid for blogging. You get an upvote only when other steemians appreciate the value you have created or added to the platform and to them respectively, thus rewarding you with an upvote.
