Many of us spend hours upon hours reading motivational messages, reading studies that undoubtedly impart knowledge into our lives. Of course, leaders are readers and the best way to the learn is to feed our mind--with books. A man who does not read will never be read; a man who doesn't quote will never be quoted. The advantages of reading and learning is just that it simply brings out the best in us on one condition.

That led us to the Cone of Learning developed around 1969 but still very much applies today. As the diagram postulated, the easiest way to learn is to read but the best way to learn is doing the real thing. Staying up late with teachers doesn't mean you know what is being taught if you never practiced. Programmers can relate to this. In fact, there's nothing worth learning that doesn't need practice. That would bring the best out of us.
