Probably the easiest way to create GIFs to illustrate your tutorials, bug hunting or other contributions on Utopian.io.
I will demonstrate how to install and use Peek on Ubuntu:
Installation:
The complete list of installation methods under different versions is available here.
For Ubuntu:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:peek-developers/stable
sudo apt update
sudo apt install peek
How to use ?
Couldn't be more easy seriously.
- Open Peek and change the window size and position to place it above the zone that you want to record :
- From the Arrow, chose the recording format, here we need to save as a GIF:
- Click on the circle to start recording
After a three seconds countdown, Peek starts recording. You can then see the time it has been recording the screen on top of it.
Click on the square to finish the recording.
Chose where to save the GIF.
Post your awesome contribution ;)
Hope this helps, I was very glad to find this awesome little tool!
