Although I like that you are telling this kind of an idea, I think they should keep it the way it is. It would be used more often if it is right next to the upvote button. To flag something in my opinion is not the opposite of an upvote by meaning. You upvote on your personal interest and taste, but the meaning of flagging has much more weight and should not be used to judge personal taste or interest. Should be used at violating or spamming content,etc.
It costs SP to flag others. Very few users would want to do that.
Only if they are aware of it. And if steemit gets more interest by mainstream people I think they could miss that point. They only see thumps up thumps down like youtube.
I was going to say the same. Downvoting should be a little harder than upvote. Especially because we see some real heated discussions on steemit that can melt colleges as if the were made of ice. Upvote and downvote/flag should be kept at separate places.
