The PSP was released in 2004 and it ran for 10 years until Sony decided to stop manufacturing it to make way for the PS Vita.

Nevertheless, Henrik Rydgård, one of the co-founders of the Dolphin emulator created this awesome app that lets you play PSP games straight to your mobile phone.

It can be installed on many OS like Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, BlackBerry 10 and Symbian.

But on this tutorial, we're gonna focus on Android only because each operating system has different ways of installing and activating PPSSPP.

Requirements

• Wifi
• Computer
• Android Phone/Tablet
  Note that it's possible it might not work on other versions of Android. My phone has Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)
• PSP games either CSO or ISO

Steps

• Go to Google Playstore and look for PPSSPP.

• There's actually 2 versions, the gold one is the paid version with better features.

• Install and wait for it. It's less than 40 MB so it wouldn't take long.

• Once installed, an icon will show up, tap and open it.

• After opening it, tap the first option.

• Choose allow on the option that will pop up.

• Link your android phone to a computer.

• Get your game, it could be in CSO or ISO format. A quick google search will give you results in finding PSP games or you can dump your own game if you have your own disc.

• Look for the folder that says PSP, it should be auto generated but if not, you can just create one.

• After opening the PSP folder, transfer the games to the GAME folder, ignore the other folders.

• Games should be in the folder now, un-link the phone from your computer.

• Going back to PPSSPP, tap on games then home.

• Scroll down and tap PSP

• Tap GAME

• Games should be seen here and tap the game you want to play.

• Just tap the game you want to play.

• Additionally, if you can't find ISO and CSO games online, you can always download games from the app itself but the games are mostly homebrews and demos. Homebrews meaning they're Indie games and which mostly are open source. Just tap Homebrews and Demos at the top then tap the download from the store option.

• You'll see a list of homebrew games that can be installed. In this case, we'll choose Cave Story and install it.

• After installing it, you'll see the options will change. The uninstall button and launch game button will appear, tap the launch game option.

• The game will also show up in your list of games screen.

• Enjoy your game.

The PPSSPP is one of the best emulators for Android. Just remember that if a game is not working, it's either your device isn't capable of using the app or the game is not compatible with PPSSPP.
