Decipher Any Type Of Emoji With Emoji.muan

in #utopian-io6 years ago

If there's a list of people who cannot decipher an emoji, I would be among those ranking the list. It's a shame that up to this day, I still don't know the meaning of both simple and complex emojis. This is one of the difficult time I usually get while I'm on a text-chat with family and friends. Most of the messages I get from close friends are usually with different emoji. And I will end up searching for the meaning of these emojis via Google before I could reply to their messages. Most times, when I send them a reply with an emoji thinking I know its meaning, I get questioned for using the wrong emoji which doesn't relate to my conversation with them. Some of the questions are; What do you mean with this emoji?, Are you trying to use that emoji, or this one?
All of these were the tough questions I get while on a chat. Because of all these, I have always wished I know of a book or PDF file where I can get the whole emoji meanings. Although, Google has been really helpful. But what I don't like about it is that it ends up redirecting me to different websites. I have always for a single platform where I can always visit to get the whole emojis and their meanings. This was the main reason why I made more research and I'm glad I found one. This is why I'm here today to introduce to you to a simple project that tells you the meaning of several emojis. The project is known as Emoji.muan

Introduction

@muanchiou is the brilliant project owner behind Emoji.muan. The idea of creating a platform to find different types of emoji isn't unique. But I appreciate her for making her project an open-source one. As I have said, Google was my helper when it gets to the deciphering of emojis. One of the websites Google usually redirects me to is Emojifinder.com. As you can see, they both have the word find in their domains. This simply means they have similar functions. However, Emoji.muan's domain is in a .muan.co format, while its competitor's domain is in .com format. This gives a clear difference between both domains.
@muanchiou added her name to the domain. The domains names do not detect how the projects work. I have used both projects and I love the fact that they functioned as expected. The screenshots below are the interfaces that displayed when I visited both projects.

Emojifinder

Even though both projects have a similar function, their landing page displayed in different styles. This isn't the first time I will be reviewing a website project/tools. So, I have already known how a standard project should look like. A standard project ought to have an introductory text(s) on its page for anyone willing to know more about the project. This was what I expected when I first visited Emoji.muan. Instead for it to display an introductory text/image, it displayed the different emojis on its interface.
Things displayed differently on its competitor's interface. And I must commend the project owner.

If I am asked to commend the developer's work behind Emoji.muan, I will appreciate how she managed to develop the project's interface for easy usage. After my whole time with the project, I noticed that all of its functions are performed on a single interface. Its interface includes the following buttons/options, which enables its users to complete the whole functions on a single interface;

  • A search button
  • A cancel button
  • Five different emoji buttons
  • A toggle button

On Emoji.muan's interface, there's a search space, and button which enables its users to find any type of emoji. This feature is nice as it's one of the important features of the project. With this feature, I was able to search for an emoji by typing just a word, which then displayed the equivalent emojis.

With Emoji.muan, I was also able to view emojis in two different formats. And they are; Text and symbol format. With this feature on Emoji.muan, I can equally say that it has two different modes. This is another great feature which is not available on its competitor's platform. The media file below is a gif showing how it displayed when I was switching between the available modes with the Toggle text button.

The way its competitor displays its search result isn't good enough when compared to Emoji.muan. The media file below is a gif file showing how it displayed its search results.

As you can see from the last gif file above, Emojifinder.com displayed its results in a different style. Instead of it to display the result in a well-organized style, its results are widely displayed to an extent that it covered the search space while scrolling.

One of the awesome features I love using while on Emoji.muan is the one that enables users to copy the meaning of an emoji by just clicking on the desired emoji.
The two projects are good at finding the meaning of an emoji for their users. But I personally prefer to use Emoji.muan because of how simple it is, and for its unique feature.

If you are like my type of person who doesn't know how to decipher emojis, then, I recommend to you Emoji.muan.

Emojis are entertaining, and it is fun to know their meanings without stress. I think this is an exciting project. Though I rarely have issues understanding emojis, however, I bookmarked this project on my browser. Perhaps, it would save me some days.
