Last week I was proud to announce a new contest for those that produce videos about Steemit on Youtube.

Promoting Steemit is good for everyone. The more users on Steemit, the more the price of Steem will grow, the more good content will be found and more authors and curators will be rewarded. It’s a win win for everyone.

And for those that go to the effort of letting their fans and following know about Steemit, I have teamed up with #Whaleshares to give out 100 whaleshare tokens to 1 lucky Youtuber every week.

Here is how the contest works

Every week I will run a query to the Youtube API to pull all the videos published the previous week with ‘Steemit’ as a key word. There are three factors which will be used to score the videos

1. Engagement via the number of comments
2. Reach – by checking the video view count
3. Sentiment – by watching the videos and reading the comments

To enter the contest and win 100 Whaleshares all you have to do is post a video on Youtube that promotes Steemit in a positive way. All videos that appear in the API search result will be eligible to win.

I will contact the winners on Youtube and on Steemit, along with an announcement post here on steemit.

The dates set in the YouTube API query this week was from Sun 26 Nov to Sat 02 December. (next week I will be looking at videos published between 3 and 9th of Dec.)

Lets look at the Data

In this 1 week time period 106 Youtube published a video that was noticed by the Youtube API to reference Steemit. Of this 106 Channles, 136 videos were produced with a combined view count of 14,449.
