Why utopian.io is One Beautiful Addition to the Blockchain

Just wow. This is one beautifully designed application! I see the potential although still in its infancy. I was browsing one afternoon in "trending", noticed utopian.io then continued browsing looking for great content.

That was a mistake. Not looking for great content, but that I didn't click and read the post!

A week or so later there it was again in "Trending", this time I clicked and began to explore what it was all about. I was sold immediately. As a "fangirlgeek" in the 90's when Linux was a hacker tool and the open source software Freeware (FLOSS) movement was considered subversive, the potential of utopia blew my mind.

Wheels started turning and neurons began firing.

I used Git for developing iPhone apps in Github, it was impressive, but was lacking something, the sense of community found on steemit. People had really good conceptual ideas, but many fell off the radar-the larger more complicated processes won. That turned me off and seemed cliquish, females were not given any cred and at the time the most popular voices won. I hate to say it, there is disparity or perhaps a dismissal of lots of potential that fell by the wayside.

Many compare utopian to Github, its similar but very different and better in many ways. Time and funding will prove this to be a truism.

A few things I like about utopia.io

• The landing page is inviting and hip (still needs some tweaking - iOS reacts oddly to scripts)

• It's easy and smooth using steemconnect integrated to steemit, Brilliant!

• It's decentralized and democratic in its base structure like steemit, hopefully it will be more fair to contributors.

• Current GitHub projects can be synched with utopia, plugins for both existing and future FLOSS can be expedited easily.

There's more, but suffice it say for a later date...

There are many opportunities for code monkeys and technical types to contribute in a number of categories, but also room for those who have insight and experience with auxiliary skills related to web based content.

Writers, content developers, graphic artists etc. If you've got a idea sign on and share it, moderators will approve if it's applicable-you never know unless you try. Let the users decide by commenting and throwing rewards your way.

Money isn't everything but...

Giving open source contributors payment for their efforts with STEEM encourages lots of contribution to projects that might have gone unnoticed or lost in places like Github. This is the blockchain and it's the future!

A little background information on why I am so enamored with utopia.io. I was employed by Compaq/HP as technical writer who spent substantial amounts of time involved in software testing and writing white-papers on operating systems, specifically Windows Server and Linux.

I believe in it so much that I delegated 400 SP to the cause because I want it to succeed and grow. If you haven't seen utopian go over and have a look keeping in mind it's still in its infancy.
