You all know that Utopian.io rewards Open Source contributions. The other important goal however is to support project owners to attract developers, translators, designers and so on and help with building an active Open Source community.

Along with some tools that will be built into the utopian.io plattform, one part of this effort will be a weekly post and email newsletter as well as a dedicated section on the landingpage to promote active and interesting projects.

Weekly Newsletter

If you have ever tried to create a nice looking HTML email template, you will probably know that the recusancy of old Internet Explorers is nothing compared to the implementations in some email clients, like Outlook. Luckily there are people that have already won this fight, kind of... and have shared their experience.

Cerberus
A few simple, but solid patterns for responsive HTML emails. Even in Outlook and Gmail.

Cerberus -
Between mobile, Gmail, and Outlook, HTML email is a three-headed dog from hell.

:D

Based on these nice little templates I created this one for Utopian:

Feel free to copy the template and test it with different email clients. I tested Thunderbird and my native Android client but I actually don't think there will be any major issues. These templates from Cerberus are usually really very robust, just as they claim.

The email newsletter won't contain all the content. (Newcomers, Contributions) It will instead link to the related post on steemit.

Markdown

For posting on steemit I prepared this markdown template. For now it will contain "Top Projects", "Top Newcomers" and "Top 10 Contributions" and whatever else makes sense I guess.

The content is obviously just samply content. For now the templates will be manually edited by @elear but as there will be an API for these project and contribution rankings, I would like to automate this process as much as possible.

Landingpage

The landingpage has experienced some minor updates. Popular projects will also be displayed there now.

The other changes are really just details, like I fixed issue #5 (by simply defining it to be ok without a carousel... :P) or I configured the animations to fire only once instead of everytime you scroll up and down.

Issues

The issues I opened on GitHub are still open. If someone wants to help, better be quick because otherwise I will do it sooner or later. :P
