RE: Market Share of the Steem Blockchain by Application: January 2018 Analysis

It's the decline in the Steem price (median average over 3.5 days) rather than SBD. I've used the post payout values which don't take into account the SBD price (it's always assumed to be at $1). Actual pst payout values will be higher if you translate through to USD.

So when steem declines we get paycuts and when it increases we get more? How does the sbd inflation rate occur?

That's right on Steem. It's not a 1-1 correlation due to the averaging and the influence of the reward pool, but broadly that's the relationship.

SBD won't impact your post payout as seen on Steemit. You'll only see the SBD value when you come to exchange SBD for Steem on the internal market, or for BTC on Bittrex.
