RE: Finding those accounts who follow immediately after publishing a post

This happened to my Charity account @giftinkindph just as I published my 2nd post the busy.org notifications sent my following reach almost 100.

It was insane and not a good indication on gauging your followers if they are organic or bots.

Sort:

yes, finding 'organic' followers is actually not that easy. There are/were a couple of tools to look into follower activity like deadfollower (now dead as well), and just recently Steemit Followers, a tools by @firedream. However, as shown above, these bots actually also vote and post, so filtering them out as bot just based on activity does not work here.

I have a theory... Someone is creating a resteem bot.
Instead of taking the huge total user list from steemsql, with many accounts it is following the active users that posted.
There are many users who are in a automatic "follow-to-follow" system.
So when these bots are following, if they are followed back, they have a database of active users.

If you check these accounts, they are following 30k+ people and each of them is followed by 3k+ people.

This way, at some accounts they will have 10k+ active users that recently posts and they will start an efficient re-steem bot.

No proof, just a highly probable theory on motivation of these follower bot accounts.

FD.

I've always though the same thing why these would follow and then a few days unfollow and then follow again so that you as a user if you are not paying attention on the name would just be happy on the follow and follow back thus giving them more and more people who follow and when they are ripe they would advertise themselves as resteem services with 20-30k followers. Even famous people like anomadsoul has only 9k followers as compared to these barely with rep or posts that people would want to follow and read.

frankly I have never seen the merit of resteem services.

This might indeed be an option! I'm wondering if people are more likely to follow back if being followed right after post creation? Maybe it's more likely to notice the follow then? With that number of bots it actually seems to work :)
