Suggestions about graphics contributions and another suggestion about the rules
I have recently seen many Utopian graphics contributions that were recreating logos. While some of those contributions were great, but others weren't. Even so, these recreations weren't contributing anything to any open source project.
I totally understand that Utopian accepted many low quality contributions in the early stage to get more exposure. But now that Utopian is getting a sizable number of contributions, it is unwise to allow contributions that aren't actually contributing anything to the projects.
These recreations can be posted on the suggestion category as proposed logos but if they are posted in the graphics tab, it opens the door to a horde of abuse. I am not going to talk about them cause talking about them will only spead those ideas.
So, my suggestion is to accept graphics contributions only if they are accepted by the developer of the github project linked in the post. This would ensure that the graphics tag isn't used for just posting random logos.
Another suggestion, add a rule in the top of the rules page that Utopian.io holds full right to un-vote or re-vote with a lower upvote to contributions posted via utopian. This would effectively shut up those who whine about lower upvotes.
I suggest adding that rule below the "Contributions MUST BE Informative" title. Demo:
The contribution must contain as much details as possible and have some graphical contents into it (videos, images, etc.) where applicable. The length of the body of the contribution must be enough to give every possible detail about the submitted contribution. If this rule is not met, the contribution won't be submitted in Utopian. A moderator can request for changes before the contribution will be accepted. Utopian.io holds full right to decide how contributions are voted and how much voting weight is allocated to each contribution.

I don't know if you are a professional graphic designer, but your opinion is completely right.
There is abuse in the graphics section. Reproducing a logo and changing a color, adding a texture or whatever doesn't mean it will work, also, most are using formats that are actually almost useless to reproduce in any media. And also, and the worse part, is that they don't even look good.
We need to think if we want more contributions or QUALITY. I think we should aim for quality here, specially when a bot is rewarding.
A professional graphic designer will be dissapointed and might lose faith in utopian if he sees how a very low quality design made by an amateur can get the same or better reward than a professional one.
This could be considered an opinion, but the weight of opinion can be related to experience. I prefer the opinion on an broken arm coming from a doctor than coming for the hair dresser.
I hope this problem gets resolved in favor of utopian.io to get high quality design contributions.

I think your just picking the contribution category that you cant contribute, then whats the essence of free and open-source contribution. I think you should be suggesting that moderators should be permitted to approved or disapproved whether the logo will be helpful or not in the project. And if this suggestion of yours will be reconsidered then utopian.io contributors will surely slowly go down. Dont suggest things that will be favorable only in your way, this is why aliens doesnt visit us tsk. PS i didnt downvote this post of yours because its your opinion and this is my own opinion too. :)
I think your assumption is wrong. Recreated logos are not contributions to open source projects.
