Decrease upvote strength if a user is posting more than two contributions per daysteemCreated with Sketch.

in #utopian-io8 years ago (edited)

This is a feature request for Utopian.io's upvote policy. My suggestion is to decrease upvote strength of users who are posting more than two approved contributions per day. This would help preserve the voting power of Utopian.io's main account.

Utopian.io has many categories of which idea is one. Suggesting ideas is much easier than finding bugs, writing code or developing a software. So, this category receives a lot of contributions. But sometimes users may post many low quality contribution posts on the idea category to get a lot of upvotes from the main account of Utopian.

This would give a lot of rewards to some specific users and deplete the voting power. If posting many posts lead to decrease in upvote strength, users will be discouraged from doing this. My suggestions are stated below:

Rule for 50%+ upvote

If a user posts three contributions, the third post will receive a -20% upvote if it normally would have received a 50%+ upvote. For example, littleboy has published three posts today. According to current parameters, he would receive a upvote of 80% in his third post. But if my suggestions are implemented, he would receive a 60% upvote.

Rule for 25-50% upvote

If a user posts three contributions, the third post will receive a -10% upvote if it normally would have received a 25-50% upvote. For example, John has published three posts today. According to current parameters, he would receive a upvote of 40% in his third post. But if my suggestions are implemented, he would receive a 30% upvote.

Rule for 10-25% upvote

If a user posts three contributions, the third post will receive a -5% upvote if it normally would have received a 10-25% upvote. For example, Satoshi has published three posts today. According to current parameters, he would receive a upvote of 20% in his third post. But if my suggestions are implemented, he would receive a 15% upvote.

Rule for 0-10% upvote

If a user posts three contributions, the third post will receive a -2.5% upvote if it normally would have received a 0-10% upvote. For example, Satoshi has published three posts today. According to current parameters, he would receive a upvote of 8% in his third post. But if my suggestions are implemented, he would receive a 5.5% upvote.

What if the parameters lead to a post receiving 0% upvote?

In such a situation, the post will receive a 1% upvote.

Thanks for reading and if the admin is interested in this feature, I am open to discuss it further.

It will unfair for the contributors if they can’t be appreciated for more work and it wont help the project if they can’t accept more than 2 contributions. I don’t think Utopian is here to serve few hundreds people. It should start preparing itself to serve millions. It will discourage contributor to invest hours and not be appreciated. Users with many followers and sp can always benefit, but your idea will not help the growing developers and technologist. Can you tell me why they should get less power upvote when they have actually done more work? Their posts will not be approved if it does not meet the criteria. Anyone can choose how many and what they want to contribute here if they meet the requirements and follow the rules. I hope we don’t have centralized system monitoring and deciding who should get paid how much. Do you get paid less or more when you work overtime at work?

*No flagging plz*

It is the opposite of what you said. I have already suggested a new way of ranking posts. Devs will mostly post only one post about their contributions. They aren't going to post for hours but work for hours of coding. For example, I recently wrote a custom style for steemit which took me about an hour. But posting about it, would probably take 20 min.

I can’t say what you said is wrong too, so I choose to remain neutral. This can be debateable and seen in many ways, so me 😷

i have seen it in the negative aspect too, but to some extent He is right because, too many contributions per account may be bad....

Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by littleboy from the Minnow Support Project. It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, theprophet0, someguy123, neoxian, followbtcnews/crimsonclad, and netuoso. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows and creating a social network. Please find us in the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network (PALnet) Discord Channel. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.

Good idea to reduce spam but I would bump it up to 3 posts per day.
