INTRODUCTION

Image cropping has been done by everyone that makes use of smartphones or camera devices before at one point in their life. It could be so as to crop out unwanted parts in an image, it could be to reduce the size of the file which also reduces image quality in return. But what of the times we don't want to cut some parts of an image without losing the quality and properties of the original image?. Or what about the times we needed to zoom in on a particular image and save it while preserving the same quality and properties of the image?!. I've been in this type of situation once or twice, and the fact that my image quality reduces every time I perform a cropping operation has always been a source of concern. Until I came across a cropping app while going through f-droid of recent, I came across llCrop (Loss Less) which translates as "loss less cropping: Remove unwanted parts of jpg photo without quality loss". I downloaded it immediately to give it a try as I was happy if this app turns out to be what the description says, then I've found the app for my 'Quality Cropping'. Unfortunately, the version that was available for download then was crashing while trying to save the cropped file, but this was fixed after a report about it and I upgraded to the latest release which worked perfectly.
After using it for some time now, I decided it's time to give the app a review and make it known to other people who might have been looking for such app or who are looking for new apps to explore. So here goes my review of "llCrop".

Review of llCrop features.

Here, I'll be talking about the various features of the app, and this will be based on my personal experience of the app.
Like most of my app review, I'll be starting this review with the User Interface.

Review of llCrop's UI.

The User Interface of this app is a very simple one, the app takes you directly to the default storage directory of your File Manager from which you can Pick the image you wish to crop and create a new file.

From this displayed page, you can select any storage directory in the File Manager or Gallery of your device that supports intent-action-EDIT for the jpeg image you want to crop. The app makes use of your Android Launcher options for storage options, sorting options and menu options on the launch page as mine can be seen in the image above.
I like the simplicity of this feature as users don't need extra time to understand how to use because they've been familiar with their phone's file manager.

Cropping Feature.

This is the main function of the app, and I call it the most important one because this is what the whole idea of the app entails. To carry out this feature, the user will select the image he/she wishes to crop from the folder in which it is located in his/her device. The image selected will now be displayed in this mannerScreenshot_20190517153818.png
This presents the user the option to zoom in, zoom out, move to and focus on a particular point of the image selected. This is where the users carry out the cropping operations with the help of that configurable square/rectangle with green edges and red stripes.
This is a feature that is common in every cropping app, and I believe users won't have a hard time using it as it works flawlessly.

Saving Feature.

This is the next feature to use after users must have completed the cropping action. The icon for this feature is located in the top right corner of the page where the cropping activity was carried out. Users just need to tap the icon and the saving options comes up for the user to name the new jpeg file that was created from the cropping.Screenshot_20190517154026.png
The image above shows the display after the save icon was clicked. Users will be able to type the name of the newly created file here, then save it to the device.

Comparing llCrop app with my Stock cropping tool

  • Just like many image cropping tools and image cropping applications, my stock copping tool reduces the quality of the image I'm cropping so much that sometimes it gets discouraging and distorted, but llCrop crops my images effortlessly and the quality of the image is retained. No distortion whatsoever. I really like this, as I crop out images now without it appearing as a cropped one.
  • Also, my device image cropping tool removes some important details of the conditions of the resultant cropped image such as Exposure time, Focal length, White balance e.t.c but llCrop preserves all this even after cropping and makes them available. This is a great feature and I really love it. And I believe most photo editors will like this feature also.

This second image shows the properties of the image cropped using llCrop (you can see all the properties are still present)

This third image above is showing the properties of the result of the same image cropped using my Device stock cropping tool.

Conclusion

llCrop is a very useful app that preserves the quality of images even when they are cropped. It doesn't distort images and it is very easy to use. The design is simple as it makes use of the device launcher interface.
Also, the app is ads free. I recommend this great app for Picture lovers, Image editors, and Photographers, it is really a handy tool.

On the content side, I like all the information provided. I have to admit that I wanted to read a bit more about your personal experience with this tool, but this doesn't mean that I am not pleased with your work. Your content is unique and personal, and the post contains valuable information about the key features of the project, so it goes without saying that I appreciate the effort.

That said, the post did have issues of style and proofreading, and I'd be happy to provide a few examples in a follow-up comment, if you wish. Regardless, it was a solid overall effort, and I am already looking forward to your next contribution.
