Introduction
My name is Ebixy Ebi Laffin and I have a page on Facebook where I promote open source applications.
A software just like any complex system is made of up of different components. These components are broken down so as to make development and faults easier to locate and diagnose. An API can be likened to the children building blocks toy
For any serious programmer, having the right APIs can make a huge difference between success and failure in software. Ballerina is a simple programming language that enables a programmer to achieve the goal of API integration more easier.
Ballerina is a new programming language that was borne out of the need for developers to simplify the process of building and integrating APIs to have a better workflow.
Targetting and Audience
Among all the continents on the Earth, Africa is lagging behind in programmers and developers. In Africa, I specifically targeted Nigeria. Nigeria has the population in terms of market size and growth. In recent years, it has witnessed a surge in the number of computer-based startups like Andela. The interest areas were narrowed down as follows:
Interest: Application programming interface, programming, software development and web development.
Job Titles: Programmer, web developer and web programmer.
Country: Nigeria
Age: 18 to 45
Ad message and Call To Action
The ad message included a call to action button of "Send message" for those interested in knowing more about Ballerina. I did so because it is a relatively unknown programming package.
Graphics
The image was automatically sourced by Facebook after putting the website link. It is in Jpeg format with a 526 x 275 dimension. The Image has letters covering more than 40% of the image, Facebook ad does like an image having a lot of letters. Such ads are usually not approved or you have to apply for a manual review. Surprisingly, my ad was approved even without a manual review.
Goal / Conversions
The goal was to create more awareness about Ballerina and I believe the objective was achieved.
Bidding Strategy and Results
I choose the Cost Per Click (CPC) bidding strategy with the aim of having link clicks. I bided at $0.05 per click, the ad performed at slightly below the bid amount. The gender results are as follows; Women 29.2% and Men 70.8%
