Moderation guidelines for Utopian's translation category.

Mind that this file is not yet official and all the rules written in it may not be the only reason to reject a contribution.

Details

This documentation has been written from scratch, starting at 06 Jan 2018, and being updated until now to improve on it and make the file up-do-date with new rules. This contribution is about the entire file, but was triggered by the update to match with this Utopian Rule Update. It's been written by me alone, but with small fixes including typos and link changes done by @dakeshi (thank you).

I am working on the translation guidelines as my team is mainly focused on translations already and I'll likely be the leading Supervisor in this category moving forward.

Components

Utopian's Moderation Guidelines are the guidelines that moderators and users should follow when evaluating if the contribution is worth accepting. The formatting of the file I decided to work on - translation.md is based on the formatting previously presented in the development.md file by @mkt. As the files are progressing, the different categories start to move away from each other which could lead to inconsistent formatting, but that will be fixed before the guidelines are officially finished.

The content of this file includes:

Mind that these screenshots are only examples and/or parts of the actual file, which is much longer - for formatting's sake I chose not to fully include them in this post.

  • An in-depth explanation of each rule in the Translation category.
    ex1.PNG

  • A general guide to how to evaluate a post's format.
    ex2.PNG

  • A guide to deal with Machine Translators.
    ex3.PNG

  • A checklist, an easy way to check if the post follows all the rules.
    ex4.PNG

  • Comment templates for moderators to use while rejecting a post.

  • Notes on the possible additions to the guidelines/rules of utopian, as well as explanation to the file's contents.

I contributed twice as a translator (english to french) and I think 1000 words is more then fair (unless the text to be translated is smaller).

Machine translation is obviously a burden to the Utopian community, I'll keep my eyes wide open.

Thank for everything

This was wrongly moved to the copywriting category, and after our discussion today we've decided to post it under documentation instead. As so, it has been moved there and awaits an another evaluation.
