The openv wiki moved to GitHub - Guess who made the first contribution ...steemCreated with Sketch.

in #utopian-io7 years ago

It has been a over a year since the announcement that the hosting of the openv wiki was going to cost considerably more. The project has been on wikispaces since the very beginning 10 years ago as a spin off from a thread on the haustechnikdialog.de forum. It doesn't happen very often that an opensource project keeps attracting this much attention over such a long period and the project is still very much alive. To keep it opensource and guarantee the future the team has been searching for a solution. This came in the form of a move to GitHub as announced two weeks ago. The wiki can now be found at https://github.com/openv/openv/wiki. A big thumbs up to Sönke J. Peters for the moving of all the content.

The first contribution was made by...

The one and only jefpatat. To be honest I have been holding my contribution a bit back because I didn't want to do double work since the wiki was going to move. There were some issues that will need to be looked into it. A wiki in itself is not part of the github repo and as such files can't be added. I asked how to handle this and the response was to add the files to an issue and reference to those uploads. An issue allows for adding some filetypes, but not all. So probably more changes are to come.

The final version of my hardware

I added all documentation I have about my design so anyone can replicate it. The hovilink is now nicely added to all the other hardware designs here. Everybody with a little electronics experience and SMD soldering skills should be able to reproduce it. Yes, it's tiny, so not very friendly for soldering newbies. This is the schematic. All files can be found at the wiki.

What's next

I have the prototype working with existing software and an RS232 to USB converter. I'm currently looking at the software and how I will port it to a microcontroller. I'm also designing a box for the PCB that will be 3D printed.

Proud minnow, eager to grow.
