THE ESCAPE
It was midnight, a girl been awakened on a dark forest, oblivious. There she saw unconscious people and waked them up. They then are awakened with so many questions within their mind."Where are we? Why are we here?", said by Riza. "I don't know", replied by Jeanetta. The group then wandered the place and saw red glowing eyes and heard growls. A girl named Cherry then spoke," We shouldn't let ourselves be in here." Men crafted stakes for protection and made torches for them to have a vision as they venture through the gloomy night.
While the group was walking, a Wolf's howl just changed their mood."Awoooo." A beast just leaped from the shadows. Fur as black as the night, talon like claws, and dagger like fangs."A wolf!", a girl named Jabez shouted. The girls ran to evade danger and men stood to fight. The wolf attacked them. But with the weapons they made, they easily killed the dumb beast. The girls came back to see the dead wolf."We should really get out of here as soon as possible." "Really?", Riza replied. A man named James replied," Oh come on" and grabbed Jabez for the group to continue walking. They found a plain ground and there they made a camp to have a rest.
Then the group awakened from a deep slumber, it is still night. While having a small discussion on how they could escape the seemingly unending forest. A thunder just waked the dead land. A strange voice just spoke near them. "In order for some of you to escape, you need to do some tasks." "What are those tasks you want us to do?", Jeanetta replied to the voice." First you need to kill one of your ally.", replied by the voice. "No! No one should get killed and how can we trust a stranger that it's voice is only revealed.", replied by Jeanetta. Then they proceed to walk. While walking, they discussed on what the voice have said." Maybe she can help us", Aaron said. Then a girl named Kate replied,"No, that girl was right. No one should be sacrificed, since the woman said that only some of us can only escape. " Jeanetta replied to them," We should find another way, we should protect ourselves from getting hurt." Then they made another camp for them to rest.
As the others fell asleep, one of them was finding a place near for him to urinate, it was Aaron. But, someone of the group still believed that maybe the woman who gave them the tasks could really help them escape the forest. Creeping and silently went near, then hit Aaron with a club. No sound was heard and no blood even spilled, perfectly killed. Aaron's body was returned to his bed. And the killer went back to sleep, anxious on what had happened. After several hours, enough to rest. The group aroused from sleep, they then had a preparation for the next walk. But they noticed that Aaron was still sleeping, as they have thought. A girl from a group went near him and tried to wake him but no response.
She got worried, she called a man from the group to check Aaron, but no pulse was felt and he was not breathing already. Everyone went close and was shocked on the fact that Aaron was dead. Then, the strange voice spoke again." You have completed my first task. Now, my second task for all for you is to bury one of you alive." Jeanetta immediately replied," You again! No! No one should get hurt. We won't sacrifice anyone of us!" "Yes, maybe there's another way. Not like that", Cherry replied. The group then ignored the voice again then continued to walk. They became tired as time passed. They made another camp and rest.
The others went to sleep but Jabez was still awake, fixing her hair. But, the one who killed Aaron was also not yet asleep. The killer made another move, choked Jabez until lifeless. It then dragged the poor girl away from the group. Made her a grave, then buried her fearlessly. The group then recovered from fatigue, awake but still craving for food. The girls noticed that Jabez wasn't around. The group then looked for her and saw her ribbon. Not only her ribbon, but also her pale leg that was incompletely buried. All got shocked of her sudden death. They became hopeless on all the things that they're onto. The voice then suddenly spoke and congratulated the completion of the second task. It also told them that one should be left behind for the final task. As usual, they ignored the voice's task.
Then they had a warm talk to each other. Confessed on what they feel. Appreciated everyone's concerns. Made a smile despite the situation that they're facing.
Then a thunder just broke their intense emotion. The voice spoke again but in a positive approach. It told the group that they have now known their purpose of being trapped in the dark forest. To be united and courageous. But also revealed that one them didn't passed the real test, for being selfish and having a serpent's attitude, it was Jeanetta. The voice told them,"Hence, I've seen light as darkness attempted to devour your minds and souls. Now I give you all that you deserve." A man and a girl just came out from darkness. It was Aaron and Jabez! Everyone became happy. They've cheered their return. As the feast of joy occurred, the dark sky slowly became bright but also Jeanetta slowly disappeared. The forest they perceived became a town. They have escape the forest of nightmare.
The troubles in life are just illusions, illusions that tricks us and giving us fear. Hope, a light that serves as guidance and courage upon striving life's darkest path.
