[Steemia] - UI Improvements + New Features

About Steemia

Steemia is a social network app running over the Steem Blockchain. This app will provide the users an enriched user experience plus features commonly encountered in a casually used social media. The goal of this project is to give the community a mobile app where they can do their daily activity in the blockchain.

Changes Made

UI Improvements

Improvements in the UI were done. After a carefully review of the components, I saw some flaws in the design. For instance, the "What's on your mind today?" card was not scaling well. This card should be par to the cards below this one. However, this was not the case in our application. Hence, the correct width was added to auto resize par to the cards below.

In addition, the single post page was reconstructed entirely into a card to maintain the same width and avoid full width in tablets. Below is an image of how it looks after the redesign.

Also, a comment box was added to let the user comment inside the single post page. After make the comment, UI will be updated immediately showing you brand new comment:

In addition, post cards inside profile pages were also fixed to have a reasonable width instead of being full width. We are also considering limit the width of the profile page entirely but as now, we will leave it as it:

Also, reblogged by text was added to distinguish reblogged post from normal ones:

And finally, modals size were adapted to take more space in tablets. Before, it was taking a little space making the use to scroll more to see comments/votes.

New Features

NSFW Filter 🙈

Since we want to keep this application usable for any public, the NSFW filter was added. With this filter, you will need to manually tap on the show image button in order to see this image. In the future, this setting will be override so the user can decide whether to show all of them or manually show them:

Search Features 🔍

Now you can perform search in the following way:

• '@' to find an user
• '#' to find posts by tag
• 'any text' to do a text search

In App Notifications 🔔

Notifications are important! We all want to see easily who commented our post, who follow us or who sent us money 💵. Steemia is now showing notifications! Here is an example of an unread notification/s:

Local notifications 🔔😏

In app notifications were not enough for us! What if I am not inside the application? Well, we have also implemented local notifications! What are local notifications? Basically, they are push notifications but the only difference is that they do not work in the background. For instance, as a workaround (until we figure out how to deliver push notifications from this), we can send you notifications if you keep the app minimized. So, you can minimize our app and keep using another app and you will still get the notification. Here is an example of how it looks:

What's next

We are almost reaching our milestone!!! Release the beta version open to the public! But before that, we still have to issue the following:

• Keep post data saved until it is posted (we don't want you to loose your post if you accidentally close the app).
• Function to edit post (We know, mistakes can be done, but a function to edit the post should be there!)
• Claim Rewards (Your earnings can be claimed on the go 😎)
• Auth Guards (We do not want intrudes in restricted pages!)
