Poker is a family card game that shares betting rules and is usually (but not always) in the hand rank. Poker games are different in terms of how cards are handed out, how hands can be formed, whether high or low hands win bets in combat (in some Games, bets are divided between high and low hands), bet limits and how many betting rounds are allowed. In the most modern poker game, the first round of betting begins with some form of forced contract. Action then results to the left. Each player in turn should either match the maximum previous bet or fold, losing the bet amount so far and all further interest in hand. A player who matches a bet can also increase, increase the bet. The betting round ends when all the players have either matched the last bet or folded. If all, except one player folds in each round, the remaining players collect the stakes and can choose to show or hide their hands. If more than one player stays in battle after the final betting round, the hand is shown and the winning hand takes the stakes.

In poker, players build the hands of five cards according to predetermined rules, which vary according to the poker variant being played. Hands compared to using a standard ranking system in all poker variants, the player with the highest hand rank is the winner in accordance with the provisions in most poker variants. In some variants, the lowest hand rank can win or tie. This hand rating is also used in some other card games, and in poker dice.
