Node.js Translation into German #6 - n-api.md Part 4 - 820 words
Project Details
Node.js was originally invented by Ryan Dhal in 2009 and is a cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment. It is considered to be one of the most used JavaScript frameworks across the industry. It is actually quite impressive, how many companies are using the framework already. Some of them are: LinkedIn, Netflix, Uber, Paypal and many more.
Node.js can be found on Crowdin and on Github too.
Contribution Specifications
In the Node.js project there are about 1 million words to be translated. This amount is divided into several subcategories. I chose to work at the category n-api.md - which contains exactly 16.109 words. I have already done three translations and this is my fourth one in n-api.md
N-API stands for next generation APIs and was developed for native addons. N-API is intendend to be an important milestone for Node.js to achieve full ABI stability.
Difficulties
A major advantage of translating the same project for a long time is that you get used to a lot of technical terms within Node.js. This allowed me to find an error in the source code, which I reported immediately:
The original source code was: "the <0>napi_value passed in or out of these methods is a handle to the object to which the reference is related.". I suggested the following correction: "The <0>napi_value passed in or out of these methods is a handle to the object to which the reference is related.", which can be seen at Crowdin in the comment section.
Languages
The original text was written in English and I've translated it into German.
Word Count
From the second paragraph of the heading References to objects with a lifespan longer than that of the native method to the headingWorking with JavaScript Values, Microsoft Word counted 820 words in total, without code and strings. However, the word count in Word including code and strings can be slightly different from the word count in Crowdin.
