Working to have top quality copywriting

Utopian seeks to incentivize the creation of original copywriting for many amazing Open Source projects. To achieve this, we have work to do. A written work's originality is an important measure of quality and therefore a requirement on Utopian.

About generic legal copy

Privacy Policies, Terms of Service documents and other legal copy tends to follow a similar structure and format, with many templates available for use online. Utopian seeks to go a step further and incentivize people to re-create such documentation and customize it to suit the purpose of individual Open Source projects out there. We want to see original, well-written copy that portrays the intended message to its audience.

The vision

We aim to see a time when Utopian copywriters are know as being among the best in the Open Source world, creating original and valuable content for many projects. As we encourage Utopian copywriters on this path, we want to aid them in the process and guide them along. To this end, I intend to release a continuing series of blog posts informing potential and current contributors of best practices to employ when creating copy, to have the best quality possible in our Copywriting category that shines with excellence.

What to expect

I will personally dedicate time to create informative blog posts that aim to nurture the Copywriting category on Utopian and help bring it to maturity. As this category and Utopian as a whole is in beta, you can expect some exciting changes in the near future, as we try to create the right framework for contributions.

Switch to owner-request only

One such change is a switch to the category being primarily owner-request only (task request or otherwise). With this, contributions may only be considered in Utopian when they are submitted in response to requests made by project owners.

This change is intended to align the objectives of project owners and contributors, and to streamline the communication between the two. With project owners more involved in determining the type of content they need written and how, we hope to see high quality and relevant contributions as a result.

Help more project owners use Utopian to find copywriters

Onboarding project owners is one of our priorities and I will help create processes and documentation to make this process smooth for projects looking for copywriting contributions. Various marketing efforts shall be made to enlist Open Source projects in the Steem community and beyond, to create opportunities for categories such as Copywriting.
