I tried to see if it works on steemit.com on android chrome and it works.
It seems it works.
I have found something too when searching that post, maybe it is with my android version or not... try to search for user and see if you can find it on your phone in esteem app on your Android version. You got newer one than me.

When i read your post i tried it quite a while.
Maybe is android version related? I had the app updated recently.
I will try to uninstall and reinstall it to see if it works or is android version issue.
