Steempress - From Blog to Blockchain (Media DApp Review)

I am very excited to be doing this. I believe that the media DApp that I'm reviewing is a splendid one. It's truly a pleasure for me to be spreading the word about how amazing this DApp is.

The world has changed really rapidly in recent times. The media has grown in tremendous ways. Communication speed has increased as opposed to in ancient times when it took days to get simple messages across to people.

Nowadays, you can do that in a few minutes or even in seconds. The media has been an incredible means of communicating with the masses and with individuals in distant places.

The internet has played a very massive role in bringing about this great change. We no longer live in the analog age - when things were done at relatively slower pace than we see in this mindblowing digital age.

The media has become a very powerful tool in making a mark in this modern world. You can reach an unimaginable number of people through the media in this new world of ours. You can gain great power by tapping into the enormous strength and power of media.

Now, you don't need so much to communicate with the world at large. Basically, what you need is a smart phone or smart device, an internet connection, and you're good to go.

So many people have used the media to accumulate wealth for themselves, by solving problems and providing valuable information and services on the media.

We all want to be part of this great change and enjoy the benefits that come with it. And that's where the DApp that I'm going to be reviewing come in. The name of this DApp is steempress. It's currently number 30 on State of the Dapps.

Let's talk about @steempress

First thing to understand is that steempress is a WordPress plugin. It connects your blog to the Steem blockchain.

You would be rewarded with Steem crypto currency, if the content of your piece which is connected to the Steem blockchain is liked by the users. Hence, your piece would be upvoted by users.

The rewards that you get (Steem tokens) can actually be traded digitally without any costs of transaction. The rewards can also be traded at a very fast speed. It should usually take about 3 seconds to complete a transaction.

In a time like this, when everything is moving fast, information is changing hands fast, and transactions are completed in very short transaction time, it's really a plus that steempress is following the pace of this age and time. It's really nice.

How to get started

• You would be needing a steemit account. For those that already have a steemit account, that's good. But for those that don't, you can sign up for your steemit account here. It would take one to two weeks for your account to be validated for free. But you can get instant access to steemit by paying to sign up.

• If you want to post from WordPress to Steemit, you should go to your settings and put in your username, you should also put in your private posting key as well as default tags. Once you've done that, then you're set.

Components and things I like about this DApp

This DApp would help you to get across to so many people all over the world. This is because it gets to audiences that are browsing different contents and write ups on the steem blockchain. Hence, this DApp can give your post that exposure, that mass communication, that you may be needing in this modern era.

This is another very amazing thing about this DApp, you get to earn Steem crypto currency, if your post is upvoted by users. Hence, this DApp can actually serve as an avenue of making income. It's completely nice, because basically, people write about or post about things that they want to talk about or share. So it's really interesting that you can get paid for doing what you want.

This DApp is very secure. All your posts are safely stored on the blockchain. Therefore, you don't have to be scared about losing your posts. The blockchain is very secure. Perhaps, in the time past, you might have been having fears of losing your favorite poem, or story or picture or article etc. But since your contents are stored on the blockchain, you should have no more fears of that.

Things I don't like about this DApp

I actually like this DApp a lot, because I think it's great. The only thing I would say that I don't like about this DApp is the fact that - Opening a steemit account for free takes about a week or two, which is a relatively long period of time for someone who has something important to perhaps share with everyone at that very moment.

The other option of opening a steemit account (instantly), involves paying to sign up, which may discourage some people from getting started. It would be really nice if the validation of steem accounts could be done within a shorter period of time.

Conclusion

Since the time that the internet came along, as well as smartphones, the world has changed a lot. This change had a huge impact on print media channel.

The masses have started getting information via smartphones, electronic devices, e-readers etc. And the world has started consuming less information via news paper, magazines and the likes. The world has gone digital to a very great extent. This is the reality of things.
