Knacksteem: The whole page clears out and becomes blank white when I click on the upvote or downvote button.

Project Information

Expected Behaviour

I expected that I could upvote or downvote an article on Knacksteem after opening the post.

Actual Behaviour

Normally when I click the upvote or downvote button, the voting slider normally pops up. Instead of that, the whole page blanks out.

How to reproduce

  • Login to Knacksteem either on PC or mobile phone
  • Open any post on the feed
  • Click on upvote or downvote button
  • See error

NB: The buttons work fine on post previews. The error is experience when the post is opened.

Test Environment

Browser: Google Chrome v70

Screen recording.

Thanks for your contribution.

I can see that this has been reported and resolved, nice work.

The issue itself was fairly important for the projects as this would be a common user journey when using the site. With that said, although the upvoting was not functional in the post page, this was accessible in the feed, therefore, a workaround was present.

Within your actual behaviour you state:

Normally when I click the upvote or downvote button, the voting slider normally pops up.

This is more expected behaviour and should be kept within that section, small point, but overall would make your contributions more consistent with how bug reports are usually written.

Other than that, great to see the issue has been fixed and look forward to seeing more contributions from you soon.

Thanks for your review @tobias-g.

However, I still haven't come to terms with how bugs are rated minor, major, etc. I mean this issue affects basic functionality of the platform and is minor??

I don't think I'll ever get the hang of it. I'd better stop submitting bugs report. Since they are all minor and prolly the PO might be aware of them later.

In terms of understanding how bugs get classified based on severity I would recommend that you take a look at the following:

http://softwaretestingfundamentals.com/defect-severity/

In terms of not contributing, I don't think this is a reason to stop. A minor issue is important for the PO too if you take a look through my reports you will also see that a fair amount of the issue I report are classified as minor too. I know it can be annoying with something that's kind of out of your control, but none less it does help the project which is the main thing :)

I don't know. I guess I'll just focus on what I'm better at; writing articles.

I add value that way too.

I leave the job to certified bug hunters.
They'll do a better job than myself.

Thank you for your review, @tobias-g! Keep up the good work!
