What is the project about?

NewsGlobal is a simple android application that is built using RSS feed from the BBC News(for now). The aim of the project is to create a simple app that keeps the user updated with news from different categories ranging from sport to technology, Business, Local news, Crypto news, Politics, Style Entertainment filtered based on the user selection. It will also allow the user to upload contents like text, images and videos. Add reviews and comments. The app will also make use of google sign up and Invite, widget for easy access to favorite news and also allow the user to sort news based on the diferent categories.

So far, Contents from four categories have been implemented: Technology, Sport, Business and Local. A Recycler View to show the contents of the category in the home activity. And Also the NewsDetailsActivity has also been implemented.

RoadMap

Some of the updates that will be added to this app are stated below:

  • Android Widget for quick access to contents.
  • Google Invite and Sharing of contents features
  • Google/Email Login for users
  • Addition of more categories
  • App will be able to allow to to post or upload news contents(Image, Text, Video)
  • Take user reviews and comments.
  • Sorting
  • Settings

    Thanks for the contribution, @godwyn. A few things that I think would be best to keep in mind for future contributions:

    • Submissions should include a comprehensible commit history. Projects or updates submitted in a single commit will not be considered for potential reward.
    • Submitted contributions should offer unique value. There are so many news applications out there and it seems like currently it just shows what's on BBC News?
    • It would be best if you would add the license to the repository instead of just having it in the README.
    • "Clone the repo and build the code" aren't really good instructions
