DTube Tag Post And Voting Analysis - December 2017 - February 2018

in #utopian-io6 years ago (edited)

@dtube is becoming the most famous and profitable Steem Blockchain application and many people are now becoming full time DTubers with the passage of time. @dtube received delegation from @misterdelegation in December, 2017 in order to promote their application and attract more and mor users. However, some people have some concerns regarding their curation policy and the aim of this analysis to give a true and fair picture of DTube's tag post and voting analysis from December 1, 2017 to February 28, 2018.

Data

All the data was extracted from Steem SQL Database (Paid subscription service held and managed by @arcange) All the queries used to extract this data can be found at the end of this post.

@dtube Tag Post Analysis

This application surly got a lot of attention after getting a huge delegation from @misterdelegation. We can see a substantial change in the number of posts submitted in January 2018 as compared to December, 2017. The number of posts and unique authors in February 2018 is less than the previous month and one of the reasons might be their policy of discouraging plagiarized content but still they are getting a lot of videos that are either downloaded from Youtube or other streaming channels. Infact, most of the top 10 authors in terms of posting the most number of posts are sharing spam/plagiarized content.

Authors Who Posted The Most

@dtube Voting Analysis

Similarly, the percentage of flags given in December, 2017, January and February 2018 was 0.0683%, 0.0466% and 0.15% respectively. It is important to note that though the percentage of upvotes is decreasing but at the same time, the percentage of flags increased substantially in the month of February, 2018. Out of 3897 authors, 542 were able to receive @dtube upvote in the month of December, 2017 (13.98%). In January and February, the percentage of unique authors who received an upvote from @dtube was 7.29% and 5.49% respectively. Top 10 authors who received the most number of upvotes from @dtube were

In the above list, @allasyummyfood, @exyle, and @davidpakman were in the top 10 for all the three months. @karensuestudios, @dontstopmenow, @polebird and @boxmining were in top 10 list in the month of December, 2017 and January, 2018. However, the increased popularity of this platform attracted many new users and one of them was @harshilpatel who was in the top 10 list in January and February, 2018.

Conclusion

@dtube is an awesome project when it comes to rewarding VLOGERS. They have done justice with the SP they received and rewarding creators on daily basis. However, the percentage of upvotes given and the percentage of unique authors who received an upvote from @dtube was quite low in the month of February which could be an alarming factor for creators who have been thinking to become a full time DTuber. It's good to see that they are regularly flagging plagiarized content and this number might increase when more users start using this application.

Nice analysis ;) well done!

Thanks, wasn't expecting a comment from a top DTuber, LOL

And keep up the wonderful job, Alla!

nice post @ghulammujtaba ...

Your contribution cannot be approved because it does not follow the Utopian Rules.

Dear @ghulammujtaba, your SQL query matches any posts created with "dtube" as one of the tags. This contains a lot of non-video posts from other apps as well, not only those done via the dtube app. The dtube account however only votes on dtube videos. Your stats therefore do not give a proper picture for the dtube app/votes.

You can contact us on Discord.

That's not true. DTube upvoted many non video posts as well, I just sent you a DM pasting some examples.

You are right about the dtube account voting also on posts that were created with other apps - apologies! We have discussed your case and we think the rejection is still correct. Analyzing the voting behavior of a single (human-controlled) account cannot be seen as an analysis of an open source project. Looking into a single steem tag falls under the category of an analysis of a "specific group group involved in the project" as denied by the utopian rules.
