Intro

Today is another good day, in my next contribution to Utopian.io I will show you the process I did to create the design of the Riot.im icon. Let's start!

What is Riot.im?

Riot.im is a simple and elegant collaboration environment that gathers all of your different conversations and app integrations into one single app.

Built around group chatrooms, Riot.im lets you share messages, images, videos and files - interact with your tools and access all your different communities under one roof. One single identity and place for all your teams: no need to switch accounts, work and chat with people from different organisations in public or private rooms: from professional projects to school trips, Riot.im will become the center of all your discussions

Description Logo

This icon is an improvement of what this application currently represents. This new design respects the use of the letter R, only that an improvement is sought, making it more attractive and easy to remember.

Step I

The idea was sketched by hand

Step II

Create a circle and determine your center by means of guidelines

Step III

I made another circle to determine the separation of each figure.

Step IV

Place the guide lines with an inclination of 73º and 128º degrees, as described below.

Step V

Determine the baselines.

Step VI

With the tool "look for strokes", I combined the figures and made the cuts of the circle.

Step VII

Create the lower figure with the "pen" tool, respecting the guides.
