I was able to observe the behavior just as you have described. This seems to be related to the application's preset markdown rules. Did you try having the images centered and divided within columns in a table?

I like the manner in which you explained the actual and expected behaviors. While your steps are concise and although the screenshots gave an insight into what the centered images should look like, you still should have provided the markdown tags you used for the test post. This would have allowed for easier reproduction.

I see that this has been assigned to a contributor for fixing. Hopefully, a fix should be in place before the next release, thanks to you.
