This behavior is trivial and not necessarily a bug. It cannot be considered one because, the PO clearly stated it was never implemented to take a user to the home page on clicking.

But to avoid confusing it with a working button, the developer has removed the drawer from sub-pages so you can only see it in main pages amd not be tempted to click on a button that has no function. So your issue led to the developer further enhancing the drawer.
