Project Details

Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside of a browser... Node.js allows the creation of Web servers and networking tools using JavaScript and a collection of "modules" that handle various core functionality... Node.js represents a "JavaScript everywhere" paradigm, unifying web application development around a single programming language, rather than different languages for server side and client side scripts.

In simple words, this project brings value to the open source community because it facilitates the creation of all sort of applications using JavaScript, and provides a lot of help and versatility to developers. If you want to know more about this project feel free to visit its website

Contribution Specifications

  • Translation Overview

This is my eleventh contribution to Node.js, I worked specifically in the folder called CHANGELOG_V6.md that as I mentioned in previous contributions, it has indications about all the important changes in Node.js V6. This time, the strings were very similar in nature to the ones from before, they basically are concise instructions about individual changes, with information about the particular person who proposed the change, and with a few technical terms that were left untranslated to preserve the meaning of the original text. Below I added a few examples of the work done:

English

[<0>d0b89a12ec</0>] - <1>doc</1>: add countdown module to writing tests guide (Bamieh) <2>#17201</2>

Spanish

[<0>d0b89a12ec</0>] - <1>doc</1>: añadir el módulo de cuenta regresiva a la guía de pruebas de escritura (Bamieh) <2>#17201</2>

English

[<0>038e52627f</0>] - <1>test</1>: remove undefined function (Rich Trott) <2>#17845</2>

Spanish

[<0>038e52627f</0>] - <1>test</1>: remover función indefinida (Rich Trott) <2>#17845</2>

English

This LTS release comes with 115 commits.

Spanish

Esta actualización de LTS viene con 115 commits.

When working on this contribution I was able to learn the following concepts:

Semver (semantic versioning): provides a standardized format for conveying versioning information as well as guidelines for usage. Thus, software release information becomes meaningful (cue semantic) -a glance at the number describes what to expect when consuming a new update or new piece of software… The goal was to bring some sanity to the management of rapidly moving software release targets. | Source

Salt: In cryptography, a salt is random data that is used as an additional input to a one-way function that "hashes" data, a password or passphrase. Salts are closely related to the concept of nonce. The primary function of salts is to defend against dictionary attacks or against its hashed equivalent, a pre-computed rainbow table attack. | Source

Arrow function: They are one-line mini functions which work much like Lambdas in other languages like C# or Python… more concise syntax for writing function expressions. | Source

In the previous contributions, I included the definition of these terms: deprecation, I/O - input/output, callback, asynchrony, POSIX, parsing, path, wildcard, wrapper function, stack trace, floating point value, error-first callbacks, transpilation tool, root certificate, little-endian, DNS rebinding, same-origin-policy, keep-alive behavior and stringification.
