Project Details

Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside of a browser... Node.js allows the creation of Web servers and networking tools using JavaScript and a collection of "modules" that handle various core functionality... Node.js represents a "JavaScript everywhere" paradigm, unifying web application development around a single programming language, rather than different languages for server side and client side scripts.

In simple words, this project brings value to the open source community because it facilitates the creation of all sort of applications using JavaScript, and provides a lot of help and versatility to developers. If you want to know more about this project feel free to visit its website

Contribution Specifications

  • Translation Overview

This is my sixteenth contribution to Node.js, and I am still working in the extensive folder named CHANGELOG_V6.md, where the most important changes about V6 are indicated using concise phrases with very short instructions, and at the end of each string the name of the person who proposed that particular change is added. Since most of the strings consist in the technical changes that were applied, there are a few terms that were left untranslated with the goal of preserving the original meaning of the text.

Below there are a few examples of the work done:

English

[<0>06ee10e523</0>] - <1>test</1>: split path tests into multiple files (Michaël Zasso) <2>#15093</2>

Spanish

[<0>06ee10e523</0>] - <1>test</1>: dividir pruebas de path en múltiples archivos (Michaël Zasso) <2>#15093</2>

English

[<0>5c99fc3fb3</0>] - <1>test</1>: backward compatible api for tty (Gergely Nemeth) <2>#15235</2>

Spanish

[<0>5c99fc3fb3</0>] - <1>test</1>: api retrocompatible para tty (Gergely Nemeth) <2>#15235</2>

English

[<0>fcab2c5ed2</0>] - <1>test</1>: removed string from assert message arg (dpaulino) <2>#15954</2>

Spanish

[<0>fcab2c5ed2</0>] - <1>test</1>: se removió string del argumento del mensaje de aserción (dpaulino) <2>#15954</2>

When working on this contribution I was able to learn the following concept:

Deflate: In computing, Deflate is a lossless data compression algorithm and associated file format that uses a combination of the LZ77 algorithm and Huffman coding… As stated in the RFC document, an algorithm producing Deflate files is widely thought to be implementable in a manner not covered by patents. | Source

In the previous contributions, I included the definition of these terms: deprecation, I/O - input/output, callback, asynchrony, POSIX, parsing, path, wildcard, wrapper function, stack trace, floating point value, error-first callbacks, transpilation tool, root certificate, little-endian, DNS rebinding, same-origin-policy, keep-alive behavior, stringification, arrow function, salt (cryptography), semver, lint, fixtures modules, newline, backporting, shell command, ES6 Classes , code refactoring, segfault, tarball, benchmark and type-check.
