Suggestion For Improving Actifit – Weekly Posts

Components

Actifit is a great project. Getting people active and rewarding them for that. This project is growing fast on the STEEM blockchain, and it already have a nice amount of delegations. Also, the delegations are from a big number of users, not just a couple of whales. Using the app is great, since it is not just for the sake of earnings, but for health. And health is above all. So, it complements health.

There are already a number of posts from users who said that this app has influenced their life in a positive way. I’m one of them as well.

Actifit app allow it users to track their activity and post it to the STEEM blockchain. At the moment the posting is done on a daily basis. The minimum word count for the posts is 30 words. After the users post their activity to the blockchain they get upvotes from the @actifit account, depending on the number of moves they have done. Also, the users are rewarded with Actifit tokens.

The app has a POST TO STEEMIT button, and after this button is pressed it opens an editor where the user needs to choose his type of activity, write at least 30 words enter the weight, height, user name, the password and click post. Then the post is published on the users Steemit page.

Proposal Description

Weekly posting

There are reactions from people seeing the same actifit post all the time. Also, some users don’t want to post short post about their activities on their blog, since they think people will find this annoying. Some users are publishing their actifit post on alt account. I’m one of them. I’m a @qurator member as well, so I can’t post short posts, even if I want to.

The proposal is to have the options to post weekly about the tracked activities with the Actifit app. There should be an option for weekly actifit post, where the users can summarize one week of activities in a single post. They will still describe each day of the week but will do this in a single post. The mandatory 30 words count can still be there (or some other limit) for each active day, and a minimum one photo to be added as well.

The rewards will stay the same but summarized as well. The Actifit app will check how many active days are in the post, the number of move of each of them, and will calculate the total weekly reward. Let’s say instead of 5 daily posts in the week, each upvoted on average with 0,3$, they will be summarized in the weekly post. The user will get 5*0,3 = 1,5$ for that week. The reward in tokens will also follow this pattern. In order to simulate the weekly posting, there can be a bonus reward on top of this rewards.

A template will be provided for the weekly post, and the users can fill it in on a daily basis before they post. The post for the week before, can be posted on each day in the next week.

A graph will be generated for the week’s activities below the post, showing the days when the user was active and the number of moves.

In this way the users will not need to post on daily, but weekly. If someone has using alt account, they can start use the main account for posting weekly.

Having an option for daily posting

Making a weekly post about your activities may repulse some people from the app. Sometimes the users want to post one activity per week, or just find it annoying to do a long weekly post. Some people want simple things with one short post.

For this to not happen, an option for daily posting should be provided. But in a form of comment.
The @actifit account will created a daily post, where users who want to post daily, will post their activities as comment. This will be done through the app, where there will be an option to post daily activity as comment. Later the @actifit account will reward this comment with votes. The reward for the daily post will be a little bit lower than for the weekly. For start this may be one post from actifit for all the users, but in the future, when the user number increase a lot, it can be more than one post for different communities.

In this way an option will be provide for those who don’t want to make detailed weekly post about their activity, and at the same time they want be posting short posts on the blockchain, but a comment.

Mockups / Examples

The image below shows how may the app looks like when this is implemented.

On the left side, the POST TO STEEMIT button is removed, and two different buttons are added. The first one WEEKLY POST, when pressed is opening an editor where a template for the post is opened. All the days of the week are stated there, with a photo option and a text box. Here the users can fill in their daily activities.

On the bottom of the post is the option to SAVE DRAFT and POST. The users can fill in their daily activity and save them, until the week is over and then post the weekly post.

Next is an example of a chart that can be generated on the bottom of the post when posting weekly. The chart will represent the users weekly activities, for the days when the limit of 5000 move is reached.

On the image is shown a case where the user has five active days, with the number of moves as stated.

Benefits

The benefits from this change will be on both sides. The users and the application. A more detailed posts will be posted, reach in content, and the users can add their weekly story to the post. This will make this post more likeable by the community, and more users will post. Users won’t get frustrated seeing the same posts all over again, will almost no content in them. The mandatory photos will also make the post richer in content and pleasant to the eye.

Also, an emphasis will be put on more quality weekly posts. The app will maintain it functionality for daily posting as well but in comment.

This concept will improve actifit, condense the posts, give more rewards to quality content, and help growth this excellent project and improve the health and fitness of its users.
