Introduction

This is an update for May 2019 for the new Steem accounts. Then a closer look will be made on the account’s activity, rewards, balance and delegation received. The post for April 2019 can be found here.

Based on this, an effort will be made to allocate the genuine users who are active and not rewarded. They will receive a small reward in form of SBI units, delegation and liquid STEEM. The end selection will be done manually from the pool of accounts that meet certain criteria.

It is an effort to try to contribute to the community. We all know that starting is not easy. A small push is very much welcomed. It is a nice when someone finds you and rewards you without you asking for it.

Accounts creations in May 2019

Below is a chart of the number of accounts created in May 2019.

2.png

A total of 12,874 Steem accounts were created in May 2019

Compared to April 2019 when this number was 18,630, the numbers are quite small. This is a month with the lowest number of accounts created in 2019. The issue was already addressed by @paulag. She also has more in depth analysis on new accounts. It seems that at the moment Steemit Inc have run out of tokens for creating accounts.

More on this in Paula post here.

Who created the accounts?

Below is a chart for the account creators.

3.png

Steem created the most accounts with 71,9% share. Next is Steem Monsters and Partiko. Steemhunt, Blocktrades and Upmyvote are also in the top creators of accounts.

In the previous months Steem had a share of 80%, but we can see that this has dropped this month.

Accounts Distribution per Number of Posts

How active were the new accounts? Do they got rewarded for their activities?

Below is a chart of the number of accounts and how much they posted. The accounts are grouped in 7 groups.

Comments are also included in the number of posts.

4.png

A majority 74,5% of the accounts that were created in May didn’t posted at all. A 7,5% posted only once. The rest of the accounts share around 18% are in the group that posted more than once. Their distribution is shown on the chart.

Comparing the number of the accounts that didn’t posted at all, we have a small drop in the percent from April, when this number was 76,6%. In February and March this number was around 72%.

Accounts Distribution per Balance

Below is a chart of the number of accounts and their distribution according to the balance of the account. A note on the balance. The balance of the account is a sum of the different balances, like SBD, savings, vests, pending reward etc. A conversion is made on the SBD balance in STEEM. The final balance is approximate and not totally accurate.

5.png

A majority, 74,2% of the accounts created in May have 0 balance. An 18,2% have balance between 0 and 1. The rest of the accounts share around 8% are in the groups with a balance more than 1 STEEM.

The balance doesn’t include the delegated STEEM that the accounts usually get when created.

Posting and Balance Dependencies

I will search for Steemians to reward mainly under two criteria. Number of posts and balance. At the end I will go through a pool of accounts manually and try to find the ones with quality content. Let’s see the dependencies between number of posts and balance.

Here is a scatter chart on that.

6.png

I have limited the axes between 10 STEEM and 50 posts, since the majority of the accounts are in this range. As we can see there is no correlation between posting and balance. Actually, there is a lot of accounts with zero posts but with some STEEM in the account. People are using the accounts only as a wallet.

From the past analysis and this one, I can tell that usually the top posting accounts are some services on steem, that are making a lot of comments. There is some accounts like that above as well but there is some genuine ones.

These accounts are doing great and they certainly don’t need a push in the back 😊. Congrats on them and holdings they have in STEEM.

Searching for Steemians to reward

As a criteria for activities I have used something called adjusted posts per day.

The number of posts of each account is divided by the number of days the account was active. This is done to compensate for the accounts that were created in the beginning of the month and had more time to post. A simple number of posts would give them a favor.

Next, this ratio has been adjusted. For the account created in the first 10 days of the month, the posts per day ratio, is reduced by 30%. The accounts that are created between the 10th and 20th of the month, don’t have adjustment, and for the accounts created in the last 10 days of the month, the posts per day ratio is increased for 30%.

Filter for the new accounts:

  • accounts with adjusted posts per day ration from 0,5 to 1,
  • balance between 0,1 and 1 STEEM.

This filtered out 66 accounts. Here is the scatter chart for them.

7.png

No obvious dependencies in this group as well.
Like mentioned above I was looking for accounts that are active but received almost no reward. I tried to find them and reward them as much as I can. Not asking from them to come to me. It is a special feeling when someone finds you and rewards you without you asking for it.

Next, Manual filter 😊

I checked all the accounts above manually and decided which one I will reward. I was looking for a genuine Steemians creating original content. Not something special just an everyday life thing.

It seems that Partiko and Actifit are creating a lot of accounts. There was quite a lot of Steemians in this group using this dApps.

The rewarded accounts

NoAccountReward
1@panksero6 SBI, 30 SP delegation, 2 STEEM
2@jhon.slowman4 SBI, 30 SP delegation, 1 STEEM
3@samantha1030 SP delegation
4@taramirkarimi20 SP delegation
5@reggiewhite15 SP delegation

The no.1 @panksero is a baker from Venezuela. He has some cool baking posts. I was impressed by him.

Congrats to these Steemians and hope you will grow fast!

These Steemians will receive an automated upvote from me for the next month as well. That is an approximate 0,03$ worth now.

The delegations are for one month and then they will be delegated to new users after that.

Hi @dalz

Thank you for your latest contribution to @utopian-io.

A strange month as far as claimed account creates with Steemit falling short. Despite having the RCs to claim more accounts, they seem to have this action on hold. Partiko created over 600 in April but only 500 this time - they are fully maxed out on Claims v's creates and I would say this is more worrying.

So we have a fall in accounts created by Steemit and this:

... The rest of the accounts share around 18% are in the group that posted more than once.

This is well up on previous months (8.3, 8.1, 6.7%) and I wonder if there is a link here between more activity and less accounts coming via Steemit?

As always, I must mention that the generous gifts you provide the new Steemians are out of scope for the contribution, but personally appreciated nonetheless.

Thanks again for your contribution!

Hey @abh12345,
A strange month indeed .... I was expecting an increase of the number of account created since it was a month with the price going up. A more smooth solution is needed for creating new accounts . I was listening Aggroed live stream yesterday and he mentioned that they have this in the pipe line. Saving the day again :)

This sounds promising.

I would like @partiko to receive a delegation from steemit - they are very low on RCs and if it wasn't for 1 kind user who is delegating over 100,000 SP, they would not have been able to claim half the accounts they have done.

Hopefully claimed accounts can be gifted/traded at some point.

Yes ... going trough the new accounts I have noticed that the so called light dApps ... Partiko and Actifit are actually making the most of the new accounts that are posting and active.

Thank you for your review, @abh12345! Keep up the good work!

pitty no one really paid any attention to the post during the week re steemit inc falling behind, it had a negative impact last time.#

Great post and awesome to see you reward new users like this

Thank Paula. Yea this is a huge drop and nobody is paying attention. It will be interesting if we have big demand for accounts. What will happen then.

Dear @delz, this is a nice and detailed analysis. Keep up the good work of supporting new and active steemains.

Congratulations to those who got rewarded.

And thanks for the mention. So nice to be the highest commenter for the month.
