Introduction

Dtube is one of the most prominent Steem dApp. Maybe it is even taken for granted a little bit. The online video industry is a huge thing. This will be a space where a lot of players from the crypto industry will try their luck.

01.PNG

@dtube has been around for quite some time now. It is one of the oldest dApp on the Steem blockchain. It started way back at the end of 2017. An analysis for 2018 can be found on this here Dtube in 2018 – Data on Activities, Posts, Votes, Payouts and Top Dtubers.

Scope of Analysis

The analysis was carried out for the period from 01.01.2019 to 30.04.2019. Data from the Steem blockchain was used and details of the queries can be found at the bottom of this post.

Data for the period will be presented on the number of posts, comments, votes and top users.

Activity on Dtube

Activity on the platform is in posts and comments. Dtubers upload their videos and users vote and comment on them. The total number of posts and comments is show in the chart below. Data for each day was collected and presented on this graph.

02.PNG

The total number of posts and comments on Dtube in the period was 59.874.

What can be noticed from the chart is that activity on the platform is quite constant in the period analysed with a slow decline. The average number of activities in this period is a 500 per day. There was some ups and downs in the price in this period but it seems that it has not affected the activity on Dtube.

Posts and Comments on Dtube

As mentioned, activities on the platform are in terms of post and comments. The number of overall posts and comments is presented.

Below is a breakdown of posts and comments and their movement in the period analysed.

03.PNG

The total number of posts made on Dtube in the period is 12.625, and the number of comments is 47.249.

The upper line represents the number of comments and the lower one the number of posts.

Here we can see a similar pattern as in the overall activity. The number of comments seems to be even more stable than the number of posts.

Dtube Votes

Not all the posts uploaded to Dtube receive a vote. Dtube votes selected posts. Below is the chart of daily votes from Dtube on posts.

04.PNG

The total number of posts voted from Dtube in the period was 8.040, with an average of 67 posts voted per day.

It an be noticed that Dtube is voting a steady number of posts in this period with an average 67 posts per day. Almost a linear trend here.

Number of Monthly Users Voted

The number of Dtubers that received a vote from Dtube is an interesting to follow. This shows how many users @dtube support with their vote. Below is a chart with the number of monthly users that received vote from Dtube.

05.PNG

The chart above is for a one year data on monthly users supported from Dtube. We can see that the number is very stable trough out all the year with an aproximate 500 montlhy users voted.
A total of 929 authors were voted from Dtube in the period from January to April 2019.

This is a decent number of users that @dtube suport, but there is always room for improvement. Supporting more users is always a good thing for the platfrom, as it will atract even more users. A system for voting maybe is a good thing to be introduced with users having Dtube score or simular.

Daily Average Vote Weight in %

Dtube is voting with difrent vote weight on the posts. Below is a chart of daily average vote weight in %.

06.PNG

The daily average vote weight in the period is 15%.

This is quite a big average vote weight that Dtube has. It has a policy of bigger votes casting to selected posts and users. Again, it is the platform policy how it will reward it users. Tokenizing the platform will be an interesting thing to do.

Number of Unique Authors

We have seen a steady number of activities on Dtube. What happened with the number od users in this period?

Below is a chart with the number of unique users that posted on Dtube.

07.PNG

Becouse Dtube has been around for quite some time, catching up some of the ATH price moment in the crypto world it has quite a significant number of unique users that posted at least once on the platform. Around 50k users in total.

Out of the 50k unique users, 3913 users posted for the first time on Dtube in the period from january to april 2019.

That is around 4k new users trying out Dtube for the fisrt time.

The chart represent the number of unique users, that posted or commented on Dtube. Not a daily or monthly active ones.

Top Dtubers Jan – Apr 2019

In this period a total of 59.874 posts and comments were made on Dtube from 6.411 users. Dtube voted 8,040 times, supporting 929 users. Dtube voted with an average vote weight of 15%. The top users received around 100 votes from Dtube.

Hi @dalz

Thank you for your contribution to @utopian-io.

I see @dtube have visited and shown support for the post (even though it obviously was not posted on dtube), this is good to see.

As far as the progress @dtube is making, I think it can be viewed as steady, especially in the current climate.

There seems to be consistency and rhythm with regards to the number of accounts voted each month, and the vote weights applied. I do wonder how another bull run would affect the data, but that is a 'problem' for the future, hopefully.

The report gathers a fairly standard set of metrics and is to me, more of a report than an analysis surfacing interesting points of notes that the project could potentially utilize for the future. Saying that, the boxes are still ticked and so thank you again for contributing to the project.

Hi @abh12345

Yes, a standard report I would say as well, putting light on the Dtube platform.
Dtube show up as well, and I'm glad about their interest.

I do wonder how another bull run would affect the data, but that is a 'problem' for the future, hopefully.

I'm interested to see this as well, and I believe can go a long way :).

Thanks for the review.

Thank you for your review, @abh12345! Keep up the good work!
