RE: The Millennials

in #utopian-io7 years ago

Millenials do get a bad rap from their elders in general. Some of it is deserved in many cases but they're not all the same. I was born just before 1980 so technically I'm in the strange little era that falls between generation X and the millenials.

Life getting easier does have something to do with it but I agree parents need to let their children own their own failures at least some of the time or else the child will grow up to be an unhappy, directionless adult.

I've seen this happen in my own life with people I know who have graduated from college expecting to land their dream job right away and they end up living with their parents until they are in their late 20's or even early 30's (and the parents still enable it).

There are some that are very bright, tough, and talented though and a lot of them are the geniuses that keep this platform up and running. I'm 38 years old and many of the witnesses here and people developing apps are younger than me--so they are millenials and they are very successful in my book.

I don't know if they're the exception to the rule or not. I don't want to add to the negativity surrounding the millenial generation so I'll leave it at that.

Nice piece.
