RE: Colors Distance - Measurement & Visualization

in #utopian-io6 years ago

oh no... maybe i didn't present it well enough for less technical people to understand ..

onr

sorry let me try again haha..
i think the general idea is simple:

Colors can be described in so many ways... humans tend to be able to understand colors easier compared to computers..

a good example would be the rainbow...

we know how to "sort" the colors... Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Purple... there's some sort of sequence that we're able to sort them into based on the hues..

but computers sees them in numbers... and the common representation of RGB values is not intuitive ... ie, it's hard to imagine, (142,21,61) ... even i don't know what it looks like...

So.. another color space called HSV was "invented" to help people describe them better.. where the colors are described with the combinations of Hue, Saturation level and Brightness value...

So imagine, a Red hue... with solid saturation, but low brightness value... it'll probably look something like a dark red...

This HSV color space is able to represent the colors intuitively to humans... and it's easier to compute the differences between colors...

so what i basically did was to describe the differences among the colors and created a pdf file that compares different measurements and see how to compare to the other methods..

i have a feeling i made it worst... HAHA, but thanks for having me on the show... haha

Haha! Don't worry about it, man! I'm known for being notoriously slow in learning!

Yeah this does help me understand it better. Thanks for taking the time to dumb it down further and explain it to me :D

my pleasure :)
