"With the help of engines and 170 workers, per day we produce 66,000 pounds (about 30,000 kg) of cashews, while it used to be 2,000 pounds (about 907 kg) when it was done manually by 2,000 people."

The paraphrase is one of the excerpts of a video and article on the December 1, 2017, Wall Street Journal (WSJ) website on the use of machinery and its effects on industry, as can be seen in link

The WSJ started its content content from the busy worker in India peeling the seeds. Details. The image then switches to a similar industry in Vietnam. The difference is, in this country more production processes rely on machines. The result doubled. Manpower in Vietnam mede industry is only for the function of supervision and handling of disorders. That too some people are required to scale many times similar industries in India. On this day, said WSJ, Vietnam has displaced India as the center of the world cashew nuts.

Machines tend to be more precise in their work. Repetitive work was minimal error. Sorting product quality is not impossible to do the machine. The use of machines that can replace human labor is not only happening in industry such as WSJ story above. Almost all industry lines allow the use of machines-from simple to intelligent-to jobs previously held by humans.

Intelligent technology is increasingly in line with the development of artificial intelligence algorithm (artificial intelligence or AI). Feeling not enough, information technology also developed AI further into the realm of machine learning (ML) and later deep learning (DL).

In essence, all the activities that have been done man-manually using hand or mechanic with the help of machine-studied and developed and replicated with ML and DL. The tools created can replace humans with intelligent software clever. One recent example, the business of turning on and turning on the lights can already be run with the help of a smart speaker. Speaker! Google products, for example, have been on the market. As in science fiction films, information technology is now able to realize devices such as speakers that were capable of conversing and running various commands Like our assistant.

LG Robot Hub, an assistant at LG smart home concept, is on display at LG InnoFest 2017 at the International Convention Center Jeju, South Korea, Tuesday (7/3/2017).

The question then arises, where is the role of human in the future? Or, will human work be completely replaced by machinery and information technology? "I believe, human creativity will not really overtaken technology. So, this technological advancement should (just) make people more creative, no longer just doing routine work, "said VP of Machine Learning Amazon Web Services (AWS) Swami Sivasubramanian, in a special interview session with coverers from Indonesia, in Las Vegas, USA United, Thursday (30/11/2017).

A number of concerns about the presence of technology that allows replacing human roles have already emerged. Even futurists such as Gerd Leonhard have specialized in writing a book entitled Technology vs. Humanism, in response to the growing fears. Like Swami, Leonhard also mentions that the work area of ??man that can never be replaced by machines is related to creativity and human things.

These human things, say Leonhard, include questions of intuition, curation, ideation, ethics, empathy, and emotion. To test whether a person or a company will be able to deal with a machine or not, Leonhard poses a simple question. "What are your plans for the next 5 years?" He said, speaking in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/25/2017). If the question can not be answered in detail, says Leonhard, a person or company should be concerned about his future.

Preparedness for technological jumps

The "AWS re: Invent 2017" forum further reinforces Leonhard's predictions about technological leaps, especially in the context of computing. Leonhard calls the technological leap in 20 years this will far surpass the achievements of the last 300 years.

CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Andy Jassy on the main stage AWS re: Invent 2017 in Las Vegas, United States, Wednesday (29/11/2017) local time or Thursday (30/11/2017) WIB.

AWS, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, re-launched a number of new services at AWS re: Invent 2017. The focus is on allowing the emergence of machine-based and deep learning-based apps and products. First known as a provider of cloud computing services - data storage no longer requires the purchase or lease of physical servers by AWS owners or users of applications is now increasingly strengthening its services in machine learning and deep learning.

AWS CEO Andy Jassy in his key speech at AWS re: Invent 2017 confirms that his company now aims to help everyone and / or companies to more easily and quickly create machine learning and deep learning based products. "Not all companies have machine learning experts. Learning it from scratch is not easy either. The process is complex and takes a lot of skill. We want to be a solution, by allowing developers to work on apps without worrying about what's behind machine learning, "said Jassy, ??in Las Vegas, United States, Wednesday (29/11/2017). According to Swami, adaptation is needed.

Media companies, for example, should be recognized as the most affected today with a surge of advances in information technology. Competition faced by the media is no longer with fellow media but also information technology companies.

"There is no other word than adaptation. But believe me, human creativity is unlimited, "Swami said encouragingly, as he talked to Kompas.com after a special interview with delegates covering Indonesia. Earlier, in an interview, Swami talked about his daughter's duty to address an issue, as an example of how human creativity is key in addressing the development of information technology today. "No one can imagine a machine having reactions and thoughts like my child's way of speaking spontaneously with me," Swami said.

The products launched by AWS until their sixth annual anniversary include services from infrastructure such as frameworks and servers, to "instant" learning tools for developers learning machine learning ie AWS DeepLens. Between the two "poles", AWS also provides various "intermediaries", from storage to management. All AWS products are, of course, cloud-based, allowing everyone to rent in small to very large sizes, paying usage charges accordingly, and adjusting usage capacity at any time.

With cloud services, AWS claims, people do not need to always buy expensive physical facilities that have a certain capacity to start building applications. Capacity is referred to as one of the weaknesses of the physical facility.

It could be a tool has a large capacity while the needs of its use is still small. Conversely, limited tool capacity is also vulnerable to updates too quickly when the application turns out to be skyrocketed and widely used by consumers.

yea iam pretty exited about all things robot and AI to be honest. This is the future for sure. However it does seem a bit scary if we make the AI and robots too smart...

yeah, that's a friend!!!
