How to use the ‘steem comment picker tool'
Pick.esteem.ws is a tool that can be used by anyone running a contest on the steem blockchain to know, or choose the winner in the comments section. The tool is created by @good-karma and it is available for all to use. The tool uses some criteria to choose the winning comment. The contest runner has the liberty of choosing any criteria ranging from:
Pick Random Winner: which chooses a random comment and declares it a winner.
Top Voted: The tool picks the comment which has the most votes and declares it the winner.
Top engaged: The tool picks the comments which has the most comments. In order words the comment that is most interactive or that has the most direct replies.
Top earned: When this criteria is selected the tool chooses the comment with maximum pay out.
The tool displays the winning comment in a textbox, it also includes the name. Right below the textbox, the tool gives a steemit link to the winning comment in another textbox for the user to copy or a link to be clicked to access the comment (open comment).
The tool also gives an overall unique comments that the post has. Note that the unique comment is different from the total comments. The unique comments are the direct replies to the post.
In this tutorial i am going to show you how to use this tool.
First you have to visit the site pick.esteem.ws, note that it doesn't have an ‘https://' or a ‘www' anything other than pick.esteem.ws will give an error. Please take note of this. After you enter the link correctly press enter or go as the case may be. The page loads like this:
For this tutorial, I want to use @stellabelle post on Here's To @roxane And All The Unknown Community Builders the steemit link to this post is https://steemit.com/community/@stellabelle/here-s-to-roxane-and-all-the-unknown-community-builders.
In the first text box, delete all in the textbox until it is empty.
In the textbox you will find ‘author/permlink'. The way to get this is very simple as this is very different from the link to the post.
All you have to do is to head over to the steemit link, in this case our link is https://steemit.com/community/@stellabelle/here-s-to-roxane-and-all-the-unknown-community-builders. Then delete https://steemit.com/community/@ and copy the rest from the username till the last letter.
In our case after deleting the https://steemit.com/@ what we have left is stellabelle/here-s-to-roxane-and-all-the-unknown-community-builders, this is what we shall enter into the text box that says author/permlink. Then hit enter.
Then it loads and give you a random winner, this you can change by selecting any of the criteria above.
If you need to see the winning comment, you can select the open comment option
and it will lead you to the comment in the post.
I hope this tutorial is explanatory enough.
Thanks for reading.

Noted thank you.
Hi @ayobami99, I'm not sure if you're the creator of Picker but first off I want to say that I love this tool. I use it every single day on my channel. But I wanted to let the developer know that it's currently not working. It's returning an error "Error occured! Try again!". Not sure if you can pass on this information or not. But I would love to continue using this tool. :)
Ok i will make a bug report tomorow, thanks for drawing my attention, i am not the developer it is @good-karma
