Analysis: Chinese Community 2017 Statistics

The goal of this analysis is to get the overview of Chinese community results in 2017 with numbers, explore its growth and find some interesting details about it.

1. Scope of Analysis

• Date of the analysis: 01.02.2018
• Timeframe of the analysed data: from 01.01.2017 to 31.12.2017

2. Tools

• Valentina Studio to get data from SteemSQL;
• Google Sheets to organize and sum up data;
• Google Data Studio to make graphs.

3. Posts, comments, unique authors

4352 authors created 44855 posts with cn tag and more than 186490 comments have been written under that posts. That means every post in average has 4.2 comments (for comparison: this index for Spanish community is 2,48 comments per post).

54.2% of posts (24295 posts) were created under ‘cn’ category (the first tag of the post is used to be a category) while other 45.8% (20560 posts) were created under some other category but have cn in it’s tags.

Significant growth of Chinese community started in June and lasted until September (more than 12x growth compared to May). Then there was a slight decrease in number of posts in the next two months and a new record for number of posts (2x compared to November) in December.

The least productive month was April - only 42 unique authors used ‘cn’ tag. The most productive month with 1303 unique authors was September.

4. Payout distribution

In 2017 authors and curators got $934564.77 in payouts:

• $744875.99 as author rewards (in SBD and STEEM POWER)
• $189688.78 as curation rewards (in STEEM POWER)

  It is interesting that in December (with 10067 posts) payouts were less by 33% than in August (with 5776 posts).

7. Conclusion

Chinese community:

• was quite active in posting (having 44855 posts made by 4352 unique authors - that means something about 10 posts per author in a year);
• had a significant community growth from June to September (in number of posts and unique authors);
• had a nice post payouts result: $934564.77 rewarded for 44855 posts(for comparison: Spanish community had $500226.68 rewarded for 130966 posts).
